Hideki Matsui Wins 2009 World Series MVP

Winner of Game 6 of the World Series against the Phillies (7-3), the New York Yankees won their 27th title in team history — more championships than any other professional sports team.

With four wins against two in Philadelphia, the legendary team of the Big Apple puts an end to nine years without a title since his last success in 2000.

The night also proved to be a memerable one for Japans Hideki Matsui.

After winning his first World Series, he became the first player from Japan to be awarded the title of MVP Series monidale.

He also became the first hitter in baseball history to win the title.

“It’s incredible. I’m surprised myself. It’s wonderful,” he said through a translator.

At 35, Matsui will be an unrestricted free agent next season, his four-year contract and $ 52 million ending this year.
