According to ESPN, Michael Jordan’s son Marcus cost his school $3-million sponsorship deal.
The aspiring basketball player decided to wear a pair of the now famous “Air Jordans” during a game.
Reports suggest the University of Central Florida player insisted on wearing a pair of white Air Jordans during an exhibition game Wednesday nght.
The shoes had no prominent logos and were worn along with Adidas ankle supports.
Adidas spokeswoman Andrea Corso said in an e-mail to the Orlando Sentinel, “The University of Central Florida has chosen not to deliver on their contractual commitment to adidas. As a result we have chosen not to continue our relationship with them moving forward.”
In response, UCF Athletics Director Keith Tribble said late Wednesday that he did not know the Adidas agreement was official.
“There’s really not much I can say because I don’t know anything about it and have not heard anything official from adidas about our agreement,” Tribble said. “As I said before, we spoke with adidas officials throughout this process and were continuing contract negotiations with them. I have not seen anything in writing or heard directly from adidas about a change in our relationship.”

Jordan's Son & Nike Equal $3-Million Deal Buster

UCF shoould bench Marcus until his Dad pays the school the $3mill they lost from addidas.
Again the arrogance of Jordan comes through loud and clear rules are for everyone else
If their was a deal in place then the coaching staff should not have allowed Marcus to play in the rival brands product. the Jordan family understands this better than many of the idiots who comment and write news articles about such things. The responsibilty falls on the coaching staff. Marcus is a kid and is not at fault for actions of Addidas or the UCF staff.
If there was a deal in place then the coaching staff should not have allowed Marcus to play in the rival brands product. The Jordan family understands this better than many of those who comment and write news articles about such things. The responsibilty falls on UFC for loosing the deal for any reason what so ever. Marcus is a kid and could have not been allowed to play if he was not wearing the proper uniform. Lets not be a society of morons who now blame our kids for our screw ups. Marcus Jordan (regardless of who his father is) is not at fault for actions of Addidas or the UCF staff.
Hey! T. Punch
lets look at this, like it really is.
The young man knew about the shoes, he refused to wear them, this is not his first year playing, so please choose your words carefully, there are’nt any morons here the “Young Man” knew what he was doing period. Again the “Young Man” not kid or child knew what he was doing.
So he should be benched, and Daddy should fork over the $3-million….NOW THAT’S AN EXPENSIVE PAIR OF SHOES FOR YOUR ASS…HIS GAME SHOULD BE ON POINT.
wow…..so i cant wear my dads shoes “without the logo” on the court?????? I think adidas needs to grow up, over one players shoes they cancel there agreement….thats pathetic.
it’s only a name.the kid should have gone to a school that had Nike contract.is he a kid with skills?more pressure for the kid to endure.he will never be good enought
he should had got into baseball, where his dad was not very good at
WOW universities get the right to exploit students talent and get to tell them what shoes they can wear? I am proud of Jordan wear the shoes you want. I think Nike should step up and offer more for all the free publicity he is giving them. I dont think it is arrogant to want to wear shoes that have your own fathers name on them. People need to relax
typical Jordan attitude dropped his but from the team what example is he setting for his team mates
Kobe would break Jordans ankles anyday jordan played when there were not to many talented players like there are today, young, strong, fast and can jump todays players far more superior then when Jordan was playing. There were a hand full back then but not like it is today
