New York Throws Parade for World Series Champions
New York City has planned a ticker tape parade, this Friday, in honor of the New York Yankees’ winning their 27th World Series Championship after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 on Wednesday.
The parade will launch at 11 am on Friday from the Broadway at Battery Place, make its way through the Canyon of Heroes and end at City Hall Plaza where Mayor Michael Bloomberg will give the team keys to the city.
“Congratulations to the Yankees for bringing the world championship back home to New York City, where it belongs,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “The Yankees have thrilled the city all year long with their come-from-behind victories and never-say-die attitude, and they did it again in the World Series.”
As per tradition, MVP award winner, Hideki Matsui, will ride on his own float while the rest of team will be driven through the parade in a double Decker bus. It is also said that a bat Matsui used during the game will be displayed at the baseball Hall of Fame to commemorate the team’s victory.
The parade is open to the public but if being crushed by an expected 3.5 million fans isn’t your idea of fun, coverage of the event will be streamed online. However, tickets must be purchased to attend the City Hall ceremony and are limited in supply.

New York Yankee Parade Scheduled For Friday

They should do this on a weekend, when people (like myself) aren’t trying to go about business as usual and get to work on time. So absurd.
Gina your City just won another WS championship and you are woried about getting work on time, you should be more concered with the financial impact this will cause rather than the minor inconvenience of not being able to get to work on time.
