Harrison Barnes, the top ranked basketball recruit for the Class of 2010, declared his intention of joining North Carolina’s Tar Heels next year via National television and ESPN-U.
Through a laptop enabled with video conferencing, Barnes was able to talk to Coach Roy Williams and the entire Chapel Hill team. Cheers went up amid those gathered in Chapel Hill when Barnes announced his decision: “Coach, I know you’re in practice now, and I’ve got to get going on signing my letter of intent,” Barnes said. “But I just want to let you know that I’ll be joining you next year on the squad. I can’t wait to play with all you guys.”
Coach Roy Williams was please with Barnes decision, saying “”When he said, ‘I’m going to go over and Skype the coach,’ and then his face showed up on our computer, that’s a pretty good feeling.”
The 6-foot-6 senior forward also considered Duke, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, and UCLA.
