UFC heavy weight champion Brock Lesnar is facing the biggest fight of his life – the fight for his life.
During his ‘recovery’ time in Canada, Lesnar collapsed and was hospitalized. Now he is being transferred to the Mayo Clinic where he will undergo major surgery to hopefully repair his intestines.
UFC President, Dana White says that Lesnar is “very, very sick.” and that ”there’s a possibility Lesnar will never fight again.”
In another report, White said, “He doesn’t have cancer or AIDS or anything like this, (but) he’s got some problems.” In a third report, White says he, “is very very sick (and) will require major surgery.” Even with that, “There’s a possibility Lesnar will never fight again.”
According to MMAFrenzy.com, if Lesnar does require surgery and remains out for the foreseeable future, an interim heavyweight title matchup between Carwin and Cain Velasquez is likely to take place in February or March.
The 32-year-old began his career in amateur wrestling before joining the WWE, where he won three championships and become the youngest person at the time to hold such a title.
In 2004 Lesnar tried his hand at football during the preseason for the Minnesota Vikings, but was a late cut and returned to wrestling in 2005.
He didn’t begin training in MMA until the summer of 2007, and garnered a contract with the UFC that October. He lost his initial match against Frank Mir, but has won every other fight since then, including a Mir rematch during UFC 100 earlier this summer.

Unfortunately, prolonged steroid use could have resulted in Lesnar’s condition. It doesn’t mean he was on steroids now but it could be a result of his prolonged use during his WWE days. Of all the possible side effects of steroid use, this is among the most rare and deadly. The exact relationship between steroids and Brocks condition is as follows:
“Steroids inhibit the formation of ground substance and fibroblasts and cause alterations in structural protein synthesis, thus decreasing mucosal repair and renewal.4 This enables intraluminal bacteria to penetrate the mucosa of the intestinal wall.”
Hopefully this will serve as a big wake-up call to the steroid-using community in all sports. Scary stuff.

Obviously his Natural flora in his intestine has been disrupted enough for bad bacteria to take over. Usually caused by antibiotics wiping out natural flora bacteria. I highly doubt steroid use has anything to do with it.
There are so many different species of opportunistic bacteria that can be responsible for his intestinal illness, the specifics will probably be published in the news in the near future.

If all u know-it-alls who r hating on brock because u r lacking irl would stop and think, u may remember he was diagnosed with mono, for which he was probably given antibiotics. As stated above, can diminish the supply of good bacteria enough to cause such problems. I agree roids r a problem but my god, its not the answer to everything that happens to atheletes just because they r big.
It needs to be noted that Brock Lesnar had a spectacular NCAA wrestling career and while involved he, like every other NCCA wrestler underwent testing for steroid use. As a wrestler, I feel its important not to let allegations of steroid use tarnish the true sport of wrestling.
anybody that thinks Lesnar was NOT on steroids is nuts. Whether they caused his condition is unknown, but taking steroids with a bacterial infection will make it worse, which could be why this is possibly career ending and not just a case of the runs.
I hope he gets better, but would be glad to see him not in the ring ever again. The sport should be about talent and effort, not classless cheaters.

This sucks. I was looking forward to seeing Brock get beat “inside” the ring….not outside. I wish him a speedy recovery and the strength to return to the ring as a real champion so that he can really be tested by someone like Shane Carwin…or maybe even George St. Pierre? GSPs speed and wrestling background would pose a real challenge for Brock.
I don’t like him in MMA but I do hope he gets a quick recovery. I know how illness can effect training first hand. Stuart if you think steriod testing can catch quick acting testostorne esters like Propionate and others your wrong, Its all half life math that will have everything out in time for testing. In college Brock was bigger and bulkier than he is now. He was tested routinely for steroids. He admitted to using steroids while in WWE for a short time. He is a natural hulk and a good person despite a few publicity stunts. Godspeed on your recovey, Brock. Your Minnesota fans LOVE YOU!

If he has an intestinal disorder, it has nothing to do with anabolic steroids.
The mono got him down, which in turn aggravated a pre-existing condition that then moved an inflamed his abdominal cavity.
Chances are, he was precribed corticosteroids to treat the mono. He may have used anabolic steroids in the past, but this really has absolutely nothing to do with his current problems, especially if the diagnosis is diverticulitis.
People may dislike him, but don’t spread bad information.

Amazing how people connect everything to steroids, the politicians have really done a nice job on everyone.

Yes steroids can cause an enlarged heart from abuse and prolonged use but this is treatable if the user takes care.
