Bills Fire Dick Jauron, Hire Perry Fewell

The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Dick Jauron.

Jauron’s firing Tuesday comes two days after Buffalo was beaten 41-17 by the Tennessee Titans.

Bills owner Ralph Wilson says it was “a difficult decision,” but one he felt he needed to make in the “best interest of our team.”

The Bills have named former defensive coordinator Perry Fewell as the new head coach.

“Perry Fewell will be our Interim Head Coach,” said owner Ralph Wilson in a team statement. “Perry has done a great job with our defense and has demonstrated excellent leadership skills as Defensive Coordinator. Our players and staff have a lot of confidence in him and that is important as we look forward to these next seven games.”

For Fewell, 47, it’s the first time he’s been a head coach in his coaching career.

According to Wikipedia, due to the declining performance of the Bills and despite player support for Jauron, many Buffalo fans wanted to see the removal of the coach. By using social networking sites such as Facebook, many fans have raised money for a digital billboard reading “It’s Time to Clean House, Ralph” on the I-190 extension of the I-90 thruway to Buffalo.

Jauron is the first NFL coach to be fired in this season.
