Tony Romo Expected To Play Thursday

Tony Romo and the Cowboys were pathetic on offense for the second consecutive week, but they nevertheless managed to snatch a 7-6 victory against the Washington Redskins Sunday.

Romo led a single progression that culminated in a major, joining Patrick Clayton in the end zone with a pass from 10 yards with 2:41 to play in the game and the Cowboys have kept their grip on the forefront of the eastern section of the National Association.

The Cowboys (7-3) avoided being shut out for a second straight game, which was particularly humiliating face the Redskins (3-7), who appealed to their third running back and blocker on the right more having to cope without their defensive tackle and tight end star. They had also never shut out the Cowboys over the last 98 games.

Shaun Suisham has provided the lead to 6-0 in Redskins réussisant investments of 45 and 31 yards. However, he missed another chance from 50 yards just before halftime that would have widened the gap to 9-0 in favor of its own.

Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell has failed in his attempt to win when his pass was deflected by Stephen Bowen before being intercepted by Anthony Spencer, when he left 1:52 on the clock. He tried one last rise late in the game, but could not cross the 35 Cowboys.

Romo suffered a back injury in the game and needed a pain-relieving shot post game. Romo took a knee to his lower back in the first quarter, but remained to play out the rest of the game. He was limited during the week’s practice sessions.

“We’ve had better Mondays, but it’s part of playing in the National Football League,” Romo said. “It’s slowly getting better, and by game day I should be good to go. It’s going to take a lot more than this to keep me out.”

Coach Wade Phillips said Monday that Romo was feeling better.

“Certainly he was affected by getting kicked or hit in the back” Phillips said.

Romo went through a full practice Wednesday.

“It’s been good,” Romo said when asked how he felt. “We’ve been able to get through a lot of plays. It’s been a very strong two practices from the mental side of it, so I think the guys are ready to go.”
