According to media reports Thursday, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is currently in Manila to discuss with Manny Pacquiao details of the proposed super fight pitting the Filipino superstar icon American Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“This trip was planned,” matchmaker Bruce Trampler said. “Manny’s got to fight in the first half of the year and Bob has to make the match so he was going to discuss that with Manny — dates, opponents and Manny’s thoughts on his political career.”
“I’m going over there to figure it out,” Arum told The Times just before departing. “Everything.”
“Of course,” Freddie Roach said in an interview with the BBC, “Manny believes he should get a 60-40 [purse] split too, because he did better in pay-per-view than Mayweather this year. Manny’s the bigger draw.”
“March 13 is too fast a turnaround,” said Roach. “Manny has a broken [right] eardrum” suffered in his Nov. 14 TKO victory over welterweight Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas. “I’d like to have more time. I hope the fight happens, yes, but I want us to be in the best possible shape.”
i think this fight should happen sometime around may so both fighters can be in top notch shape so neither fighter will make excuses and it should be a 50-50 split hopefully this fight happens over here at the new cowboys stadium i cant see why they should have it anywhere else other than in dallas or vegas.

Roach doesn’t want this fight to happen. Yesterday, hw said that Manny wanted to fight the jr. Middleweight champion because Mayweather wasn’t negotiating well and they need to fight in March. Now, when mayweather accepts initial terms, Roach says March is to early to fight because of a broken ear drum. Manny needs time to heal.
Roach know that he is about to get his golden goose cooked. He saw how often a drained Cotto hit Manny. And how Manny had problems with movement. That is why Mayweather called him one deminsional. Manny is going to get whipped badly.
I thought Freddie Roach said Floyd would be the one demanding the higher purse. If the article I read earlier is correct than Floyd is willing to fight in March or May; If their is a hold up it will be on Pacquiao’s side. I think their is some fear setting in.

One dementional,,you mean?/,,as pacqiuoa put it ,,he just wanted to feel his power in the few rounds,,as the fight progressed 3rd round and so on,,paquiao started to move inside out and his footwork is superb and fists are lightning fast,,we thought de lahoya was too big,and hatton never lost at 140 pds,also cotto was too big and strong for him,,so don’t make predictions early!!
I think 60/40 in favor for pacquiao is worthy enough.. pacquiao is a welter champ. and everything in him is a special offer that no one can refuse to surpass. He is also a smaller guy to his disadvantage that everyones dream to be his opponent..

@Martin, you are correct. How can Manny fight Foreman in March, but can’t fight Floyd, and that 60/40 talk means to me that they really don’t want the fight. That’s pricing yourself out there. Floyd had far better PPV numbers with the 3 common opponents that they share!!
The best way to find out who should get the bigger purse is match up how much ppv sales they generated fighting the same opponents or how much they have each generated in their individual careers.
Against the same opponents Floyd has done better in terms of PPV, Roach is afraid cause he knows his boxer is one dimensional. Floyd will win easily
Yes 60-40 in favor of Pacquiao is enough. He is the current Welterweight Champ, the current Pound for Pound Champion and the only boxer who have 7World Championship belts.
Actually if he fight or not fight Mayweather, he would remains the number1 boxer in history. Why Mayweather be given 60-40? He has NO belt, he is only the no.2 Pound for Pound. I think he is afraid to LOSS, becoz if he loss to Pacquiao but still with bigger purse. It would still remain a win-win for Gayweather.

Floyd Mayweather is the best pound 4 pound fighter in the world to all the real boxing fans because he retired and thats how Many got the title not because Floyd lost. Floyd won the Pound 4 POund title cause Hopkins lost Manny won because Floyd vacated it. Yes Manny is one of the best fighters in this era due to his excitement and boxing style, but there is no way in hell he is going to out box or out smart the best pure boxer in the sport. Floyd isn’t the most exciting fighter but he get quailty wins doing half the work Manny does. IF you could go in the ring give 33% win the fight collect your millions and leave the ring without a beat up face you would do it to. Why get in wars of the fist and end up like Ali(No offense) when you can tactially breakdown your opponent and win the match. Also think of everybody that Mayweather fought before and after they fought Mayweather. They look stellar but while fighting Mayweather they looked the worse they ever looked in their career. I mean who expected Gatti and Marquez to look that damn bad againt Floyd. These are (2) die hard take and gie type fighters that got taken out of their game by the master chess player. Most of you fans that are talking about Manny have only sen him fight (3) times (De La Hoya, Hatton, and Cotto) and now you jump on the bandwagon. Most of you didn’t see the (2) fights against Marquez in which I think Marquez won. I mean Manny dropped him (3) times in the first round which is a 10-6 round and yet the fight still ended in a draw are you serious. The rematch was still more of Manny and Marquez going at it but Marquez in my opinion did what it tool to win but it was given to Manny. I take nothing away from Manny but he is not now nor will he ever be on Mayweathers level.

For the Pacman, fighting in March is most likely a no. This guy is so busy on the political side in his province. That is probably why he prefers to fight around May instead. However, it’s not only about that, it is also about how much who gets who? Plus perhaps the catch weight, this is very difficult to negotiate. As we all know Mayweather agreed already on the initial offer, but the other side has to agree as well to make this fight concrete. It is not easy, while both sides think they should recieve the majority. I say, 60/40 WINNER takes the majority, I think thats fair, considering they have to win it to get it. Hopefully the deal go through, regardless of the financial terms, this is a MEGA Fight no doubt!!!

i doubt if the fight will happen either march or may next year, knowing the egos and advisers of both boxers, this will leave us all boxing fans hanging…alas, boxing nowadays are more concerned on the pay per view, money, and exhibition matches…gone are the days, when pure boxing is about the best fighter of its class and level…where are all the sportsmanship of the game? what are the uses of titles and belts? how can floyd be a challenger when in fact he doesn’t have any rank or standing in the welter weight division? i hope boxing fans can still revive the glory days of boxing…pity for those boxers who waited and toed the line just to have a glimpse and a fight for boxing immortality.
