Chris Henry Dies OF Injuries After Domestic Dispute With Fiancee Loleini Tonga (PHOTO)


Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry, died Thursday, a day after suffering serious injuries after falling off the back of a pickup truck in connection with what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.

Police in Charlotte-Mecklenburg said Henry died at 6:36 Thursday morning. He was 26 years.

Henry was rushed to hospital Wednesday after he was found in a residential street when he “apparently suffered the injury putting in danger”, police said.

Police said the dispute began at a residence located approximately 800 meters from the scene, and Henry jumped into the back of the van open-plan while his girlfriend was driving and left the residence.

The Police said that at one point while she was driving, Henry fell from the rear of the vehicle. They would not identify the woman and no charges were filed immediately.

“The domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry,” the police said in a statement. “At some point while she was driving, Mr. Henry came out of the back of the vehicle.”

Henry was engaged to Loleini Tonga and the couple raised three children. In his MySpace page, Tonga identifies herself as “Mrs. C. Henry” and displays a photo of herself in the company of a man who seems to be Henry. She also posted a message on Tuesday in which she talks to buy wedding rings. A neighbor said Wednesday that the Tonga family owns the house where the incident occurred, police said. Charlotte is the city where resident parents of the bride of Henry.

Henry was away from the team after breaking the left forearm during a match against Baltimore Ravens, November 8. He had surgery and his name was placed on the reserve list of injured players after the game, meaning he would not play again this season.
