American Mega church Embraces The Super Bowl

While many of our nation’s churches experience their lowest attendance of the year on Super Bowl Sunday, one Los Angeles based mega church is embracing the trend and bringing their message to the general public. The Los Angeles mega church, which has over 3,000 members, is a finalist in Dorito’s Crash The Super Bowl contest in which private citizens and organizations submitted commercials, the winner of which will be aired during the big game.

The Mosaic church is among six finalists in the contest, but their commercial has received sone public scrutiny from other religious experts. According to reports, the church’s commercial is a comedic spoof of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. While many consider the commercial to be lighthearted and fun, others are concerned that portraying the resurrection in any light is sacreligious.

According to lead pastor, Erwin McManus, it is OK to share a lighthearted laugh over faith and that he hopes the relugious community accepts the message. McManus leads a congregation that is unlike your neighborhood church. Within the 3,000 person congregation, there are many skilled individuals who work in the film and television industry. The entire short commercial was written, produced, directed, and acted by members of The Mosaic church.
