Pro Football Hall of Famers
While the majority of the pro football hype this weekend was reserved for current NFL stars, such as Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, several former NFL stars received news that they will be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame this summer. The 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame class is headlined by NFL legends Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith.
Jerry Rice played in the NFL for 20 seasons, 16 of which were with the San Francisco 49ers. While with the 49ers, Rice won three Super Bowls and turned Steve Young and Joe Montana into Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Rice, who was a wide receiver, owns virtually all NFL receiving records.
Emmitt Smith was a running back who won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys. Smith is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher and has the most rushing touchdowns ever.
Other players who are being inducted into the Hall of Fame this summer are former Washington Redskins guard Russ Grimm, former New Orleans Saints linebacker Rickey Jackson, former Vikings lineman John Randle, former Lions cornerback Dick Lebeau, and former Denver running back Floyd Little. All members of the 2010 class will be inducted on August 7 at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH.
