New York Mets Player Reyes Has Thyroid Imbalance

The New York Mets’ Jose Reyes is now set to undergo medical tests for a possible thyroid imbalance. Doctors at the Mets Spring Training facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida discovered the thyroid imbalance at the end of last week and released the information on Friday last week.

Reyes is set to have the tests done in New York and will certainly not see any action during the test day and the two days that it is expected for the test results to come back. The shortstop was actually set to play Friday during a spring training game but when the blood tests came back from the Spring Training doctors, General Manager Omar Minaya and the physicians in New York advised that Reyes not play and thus was pulled from the starting lineup.

All of this comes at a time when Reyes missed most of last season with an injured hamstring. There has been word that the Mets plan on having Reyes move from the leadoff spot to third in the lineup while outfielder Carlos Beltran recovers from shoulder surgery. Reyes has gone on record and said that he is concerned about the tests because it is not a playing injury but actual health related.
