Woods Rejects $75m Sponsorship Offer from Paddy Power

In an ironic twist of fate, Irish book maker Paddy Power has offered troubled golf legend Tiger Woods a five-year, $75 million endorsement deal despite having lost more than $2 million in bets after Woods failed to capture last year’s PGA Championship. Woods rejected the offer and still remains retired from golf while he attempts to get his personal life back in order.

Many of Woods’ sponsors including Accenture, AT&T, Buick, Gatorade, and Gillette have dumped him since revelations of his numerous adulterous affairs were made public late last year. It’s believed Woods made as much as $100 million anally in endorsements before the scandal erupted.

“At this stage, when other sponsors seem to be ditching him, there’s an opportunity there to step in,” Paddy Power said in a statement. “He’s still somebody we would very much like to align ourselves to.â€

The company insists the rejection of its initial offer doesn’t mean the deal is dead. Paddy Power claims it will make a new and “enhanced” offer shortly in hopes of reaching a deal with Woods and his management company, IMG. Regardless of whether or not an agreement can be reached, Paddy Power has already seen positive results from their action, getting plenty of free advertising as the story circulates around the world.
