Sports Roundup: Demolition On Yankee Stadium, Tiger Woods Returns

On Wednesday, demolition began on one of major league baseball’s most historic landmarks. The Old Yankee Stadium, which originally opened in 1923, is expected to be completely wiped away by June 2010 as demolition crews work quickly to clear up the remaining mess.

The New York Yankees played in that field until 2008, where they won a major league baseball record amount of World Series Championships. The Yankees opened a new stadium last year which is considered one of the most advanced stadiums in baseball. The old Yankee stadium will be replaced by the city with a new community park, which will have a few community baseball fields.

In other sports news, golfer Tiger Woods is expected to resume his golf career later than expected. While Woods was originally expected to golf in this month’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, it appears that he is looking for a more heroic return.

Woods will now end his hiatus with an appearance at The Masters in Augusta, GA. The Masters is one of golf’s most highly rated tournaments. Woods may also benefit from resuming his career at The Masters because they limit the amount of media members who may come inside the ropes at a tournament.
