Willie Clark Found Guilty In Darrent Williams Murder

It has been over three years since Denver Bronco’s cornerback, Darrent Williams, was murdered, but it now appears that his family can finally rest in peace.

Willie Clark, who is a member of the street gang “The Crips,” was convicted on Thursday for first degree murder. In the drive by shooting that killed Williams, Willie Clark was also charged with two charges of attempted murder as he injured two other people.

The incident occurred only 12 hours after the Denver Broncos finished their last game of the 2006 season. While the case seemed to move extremely slowly for more than a year, detectives of the murder got their big break when Willie Clark wrote a letter confessing to the crime in May 2008. Clark, who was indicted by a grand jury following his admission, will receive full sentencing on April 30, 2010.

The former Bronco’s cornerback was survived by a young son and daughter. Throughout the trial, William’s mother, Rosiland Williams, sat quietly until the judgment was determined.

After the judgment, Rosiland Williams said that the decision does not bring her son back, but she was glad the decision was made. She continued to state that we need to do something to stop gang violence.
