Good Bye to a Hockey great!
Bob Probert, a retired hockey enforcer has died at the age of 45. He played for the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings.
While he was boating on Lake St. Claire he developed severe chest pains. His father-in-law was on the boat with his daughter and the rest of the family and he immediately rushed to the aid of his son-in-law. However, Probert later died at Windsor Regional Medical Center in Ontario.
Probert had 384 points in 935 regular season games with Chicago and Detroit. He had 3,300 career penalty minutes which ranks him sixth. In 2009, he was honored by the Blackhawks with the Bob Probert Heritage Night.
Probert was known to have a drinking problem and at one time was caught with cocaine while entering the United States. He had to serve time in prison.
