On Tuesday night the couple left the children at home for a lavish meal at the Trattoria da Pippo restaurant in Valetta. Ten guests including friends and colleagues from the set of Pitt’s new film joined the couple for a sumptuous feast of fried calamari, king prawns, Maltese antipasto of local goat cheese and sausage, pasta with mussels, and veal with Parma ham. Franco Debono, a local politician, later joined the diners. “I love Malta!” Pitt reportedly said.

The Pitt-Jolie family is expected to stay in Malta throughout the month of June.

Angelina’s newest attempt at stardom came in the form of a directorial debut, a fact that should not surprise anyone considering the talent of this actress. Her first production came in the form of “The Land of Blood and Honey”, a movie that is centered around the Bosnian war.

The popular action star has assured potential viewers that even though the movie may be tied to the war it should not be considered as a war flick. She was quoted as saying… “I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living inside a war.”

Yesterday, on the day that she turned 35, the actress was seen having a pre-birthday lunch at Sur in West Hollywood with just one guest: her assistant. The actress wore a black strapless dress and oversized sunglasses during the seemingly quiet event. There is no need to start up the rumor mill just yet, she, Brad and the brood just got back from spending Memorial Day Weekend in Malibu, California at their beach house.

According to sources, Jolie is laying low in Los Angeles before the promotional events begin for her newest movie, “Salt.” Jolie is set to play a CIA officer in the action thriller. She said that she was unfazed by the stunts that she had to perform during the filming of the movie. “We have so much trust. They can hang me off the side of a building or a moving car or anything,” Jolie said. “I trust that I’m going to be safe and I can just play.”

More than 117,000 people are still living in tents and makeshift homes nearly 15 years after the war in the country ended. Many Bosnians are forced to remain in the refugee camps because their homes have not been rebuilt or their villages have not been restored.

Jolie has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations for several years. This is just one of many trips, she has taken to the area. A recent tell-all by a former bodyguard for the couple sent shock waves through the couple’s fan base. The body guard implied the couple are completely different behind closed doors and often go their separate ways when nobody is watching.

“Maleficent” is the working title of the new Disney film, which would tell the story of Sleeping Beauty from the wicked godmother’s point of view. It’s a modern take on the Sleeping Beauty tale, and joins a long line of modern re-tellings of fairy tales that include blockbuster books and musicals like “Wicked,” which tells the story of “The Wizard of Oz” from the point of view of the Wicked Witch of the West.

News reports indicate that Tim Burton is in talks to direct Jolie in “Maleficent.” Jolie’s next role may depend on whether or not Burton agrees to direct. Sources say Jolie and Burton have been discussing working together on “Maleficent” since the spring of 2009.

Although sources leaked the fact that Disney has hired a screenwriter for “Maleficent,” Disney will not comment on the project. Jolie’s people have also remained mum.

Shiloh recently saw the movie “Peter Pan” and fell in love with the story. Brad Pitt has stated that she wants to be called “John” or “Peter”, after the movies characters. He said, “She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it’s a ‘Peter Pan’ thing. So we’ve got to call her John, ‘Shi, do you want…’ – ‘John. I’m John.’ And then I’ll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’”

The blonde Shiloh’s love of Peter Pan may have been the inspiration for her new haircut. The pixie cut has become tabloid fodder and the subject of much debate. While many celebrity followers find the cut to be adorable on Shiloh, other feel the style is too severe and masculine for a little girl. Shiloh is also seen in paparazzi photos wearing androgynous clothing, which adds fuel to the fire in the debate over whether Shiloh’s overall look is too boyish.

Cornwell sold the movie rights to Sony back in 2000. She was sure a film would be made after the studio hired writers Robert Rodat and Stephen Schiff. Unfortunately, it still did not go anywhere.

Angelina Jolie has expressed interest in playing the role of Scarpetta, which has kick started the project, finally. Jolie and Cornwell began talks last April but then nothing else was said. Good news is there has been plenty of behind the scene movements with the project.

Kerry Williamson is an Irish screenwriter and has been hired to write the screenplay. Instead of making a movie based on one of the novels, an entire new screenplay will be written. The film will be set in modern day, but Scarpetta will be the young woman she was in the beginning of the series.

This film could be the beginning of a film franchise for Jolie, much like the Bourne series has been for Matt Damon.
