Hopkins’ exact quote was this: “You look at fashion magazines and you think, ‘What are we living in?’ You look at the red carpet, Paris Hilton, you know, these people and you think, ‘Is there anything going on up there?’ It’s a mass enslavement and it’s kind of fascism. And it’s the androgyny of it; the androgyny of the human soul. I don’t think people think any more. But maybe I’m just old.”

The 72 year old Hopkins does know something about overcoming enslavement. He became an alcoholic as a child. When his acting carer rose in the UK, so did his drinking and wild ways. On the set of “The Lion in Winter” (1968), the legendary Katherine Hepburn took Hopkins to task for his drinking. Hopkins later moved to America and joined an alcoholics’ support group and became sober in 1975.

There has been no comment from Hilton, currently living in Los Angeles.

The movie revolves around Thor, a powerful and arrogant warrior whose reckless actions begin a war. As punishment Thor is sent down to earth by his father to live among humans.

Thor is being played by “Star Trek” star Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddelston will star as his nemesis Loki. Natalie Portman will play Thor’s love interest, Jane Foster. Also cast in “Thor” are Robert De Niro, Jude Law, Jaimie Alexander and Colm Feore. Production is set to begin in January for a release on May 20, 2011.

Hopkins will next be seen starring alongside Benicio Del Toro in “The Wolfman” in February.
