The broadway smash hit is being made for the big screen by Adam Shankman. Also in the cast will be Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin and Mary J. Blige. Catherine’s role wasn’t in the broadway version, but has been invented for the movie version. Shankman decided it needed a villain, and Catherine will play the meanie who wants to shut down rock and roll.

The Welsh actress has two young children and a busy career. She has recently nursed her husband, actor Michael Douglas, through cancer treatment. Although Douglas has recently reported that he is cancer-free the ordeal certainly weighed heavily on Zeta-Jones.

Bipolar disorder is characterized by periods of elevated mood or mania alternating with depressive symptoms. The symptoms can be controlled through medication and those diagnosed with bipolar can lead happy and productive lives. Minimizing stress also appears to play a role in the management of bipolar symptoms.

According to sources, Zeta Jones has been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and may have spent the last five days in a mental health facility to get help to deal with her issues. She reportedly decided to check herself into the facility after dealing with extreme stress for the past year.

Much of the stress could be linked to her husband’s own health issues. Zeta Jones is married to actor Michael Douglas who has had a difficult and well chronicled bout with cancer. While stress can be a reason why someone may get the disorder, it is also frequently received through genetics.

After her five-day stay in the treatment facility, Zeta-Jones is reportedly feeling well and ready to get to work on the two films that she has coming up.

Once in a while, even a good catfight or a brawl is filmed. At a recent public appearance, however, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones was reportedly the one assaulted, by a member of the paparazzi.

Zeta-Jones and her actor husband, Michael Douglas, were attending a ceremony where the actress was to be honored by Prince Charles. As the couple passed through the lightning-like flash of cameras, Zeta-Jones was heard screaming.

“He punched me!” she exclaimed.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the show has film footage showing the man assaulting the actress.

Douglas took a moment to try to find her attacker before the two continued on to the induction, where Zeta-Jones was being made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

The couple were in London as guests of the Royal Family and had visited Buckingham Palace earlier in the evening.

When they came back from the event and they were about to enter the hotel that they were staying in, the paparazzi were taking pictures when all of a sudden it was said that Jones yelled that she had been punched and that she wanted the assistance of the police.

Douglas had already entered the hotel lobby but eye witnesses said he came back outside where he confronted the photographer and was ready to fight. The scuffle quickly ended and the parties carried on.

Zeta-Jones, 40, was recently named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. The honor was part of the Queen’s 2010 Birthday Honors. The Queen issues these honors once a year. They vary in degree and are awarded to British nationals who have had a positive impact. The honor issued to Zeta-Jones is the third highest honor. It is listed just below knighthood or dame-hood for women

She said of the recently announcement, “I am absolutely thrilled with this honor. As a British subject, I feel incredibly proud. At the same time, it is overwhelming and humbling. And my mum and dad are delighted beyond belief.”

Zeta-Jones was joined by “The Pianist” screenwriter Ronald Harwood, Nobel scientist, Charles Kao, actress, Sophie Okenedo, and musicians Graham Nash and John Cale.

Zeta-Jones was born in Wales. She began her acting career in British theater and television before moving to Hollywood. She has since won a best supporting actress Oscar in 2003 for the musical “Chicago.” Zeta-Jones is married to actor, Michael Douglas.

On the day that she officially received her honor, her parents, Patricia and David Jones, flew over to celebrate with her.
