CNN has a website called iReport where posts can be placed by anyone. This past weekend is when the horrible Photoshop picture of Rebecca Black was posted. The photoshop was of bad quality, besides it being a very hateful thing to post.

Rebecca commented about the story on Twitter, stating that she is absolutely not pregnant. She stated that it was not April Fools Day when this happened on May 15.

The news broke last night in a news conference given from the White House by President Obama. In a short statement, Obama confirmed that he gave the go ahead on the mission, which was conducted on Sunday. American intelligence had recently tracked Bin Laden to a mansion in Pakistan, and a raid was put together by the American military. After entering the compound, a fire fight ensued, during which Bin Laden was killed.

The Americans waited to release the news in order to confirm that the body in custody was in fact Bin Laden. Experts were surprised that Bin Laden was hiding in a major city and not the mountains as was suspected for many years.

Obama praised the efforts of the mission, saying that after almost ten years, justice had finally been done. He went on to stress that the work is far from over and purposefully reiterated that the war is not against Islam but terrorist activity. While officials are clearly celebrating the news, they are also mindful of the increased risk of a counterstrike from Al-Qaeda

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife did not attend the event, but did send the couple a personal gift of outdoor equipment. Harper suggested that William and Kate use the equipment to enjoy the natural surroundings of Canada when they visit the country from June 30 through July 8. Canada is among the 16 Commonwealth realms and will be honored with the couple’s first official visit outside of Britain.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head Saturday while hosting an event in Tucson, Arizona. She was reportedly shot “point blank in the head” and was rushed to nearby University Medical Center. She is listed in critical condition.

An unnamed gunman used a semi-automatic weapon to open fire on attendees of the event in the local Safeway. Six others were killed and more wounded. A suspect was apprehended at the scene.

The Arizona democrat who was elected to a third term last November has been targeted by right wing groups prior to today’s tragedy.

A gun was reportedly dropped off at an event in 2009, and her offices were vandalized last March just hours after the historic health care vote. However, like today’s shooting, there is no conclusive evidence these events were politically motivated.

Nightfall is approaching and even though many of the rescue workers are showing signs of fatigue, the rescue process has not slowed down one bit.

Richard Villarroel, a mechanic was the 28th person to emere from the mine.

After he climbed out of the capsule, he held up the Chilean flag and hugged relatives.

The 27th mn to be rescued was Franklin Lobos. Lobos was a professional and Olympic soccer player in the 1980′s. It’s a miracle to many that the miners are in such good health as they come out of the mine after 69 days. The remaining workers will be coming out in the next few hours.

Thirty-three miners had been trapped for 69 days. Carlos Bugueno, is the 23rd man rescued. Bugueno, a former security guard, worked at the mine for only a short time with his longtime friend, Pedro Cortez, who was still underground waiting to leave the mine.

It’s remarkable, but the miners appear to be in great health for a group of people trapped in confined quarters for an extended period of time.

The rescue operation will be soon approaching the 24-hour mark and it will continue until the last person is pulled out.
