This is amid rumors that Conan is considering a huge contract offer from FOX executives in order to develop a late night television talk show for them.

Zucker would certainly put the breaks on such an agreement with FOX and likely never allow Conan to appear on the air for that company.

Conan has been making jokes on his show about only hosting the show for seven months until he is now being asked to leave by people like Jeff Zucker.

O’Brien fans have now formed a team on the internet called Team Coco which is a reference to one of the jokes on O’Brien’s show as a way to show support for NBC keeping Conan as host of the Tonight Show as Conan would prefer.

Jay Leno is making more money than Conan in that time slot so it is more likely Leno will win out according to media reports.

Meanwhile, according to The New York Times, NBC Sports executive Dick Ebersol has defended Jay Leno calling O’Brien and Letterman “chicken-hearted and gutless to blame a guy you couldn’t beat in the ratings.”

“They’re just striking out at Jay,” he added. “It seems like professional jealousy.”

Ebersol suggested O’Brien is to blame for the late night mess.

“What this is really all about is an astounding failure by Conan,” Ebersol added, referring to “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien’s” ratings, which have fallen since O’Brien took over the reigns.

One of the main reasons Conan’s ratings have been higher last week is because of the jabs he has taken against NBC and Leno. “Saturday Night Live” even had its fun with the Leno and O’Brien debacle on their January 16th broadcast.

It’s currently being speculated that O’Brien is out as he has already stated he will not be doing a later “Tonight Show” at 12:05 after Jay Leno’s short half-hour show. It will be interesting to see what happens with this feud between now and February 15th, when the Winter Olympics start airing.

Simple Explanation Really

Halderman was simply trying to sell a script not extort money, when he delivered a one-page screenplay proposal and other evidence to David Letterman in September about Mr. Letterman’s affairs with women who worked for him, according to Gerald L. Shargel, Mr. Halderman’s lawyer.

“There was no extortion. There was a screenplay for sale,” the lawyer, Gerald Shargel, said outside court. “There was a commercial transaction. Nothing more.”

But a lawyer for Letterman said the exchange was a shakedown, not a sale.

“It’s classic blackmail, no matter how Mr. Halderman’s lawyer wants to dress it up,” Daniel J. Horwitz said outside court.

Halderman was accused of attempting to blackmail David Letterman for two million dollars.  Halderman was threatening to release details of Letterman’s steamy affairs with several “Late Show ” female staffers.

George Lopez, who is well-known for his self-titled TV sitcom and stand-up comedy specials, says his show “Lopez Tonight” will appeal to people who are looking for something different from late night shows like the “Tonight Show”. Lopez has guest-hosted on several late night talk shows.

Wanda Sykes is also famous for her stand-up comedy performances. Her previous talk show experience includes work on HBO’s “The Chris Rock Show”. She says her show will not feature the “typical interview with the celebrity”.

“Lopez Tonight” airs Monday through Thursday nights at 11 PM Eastern time on TBS. “The Wanda Sykes Show” airs Saturday nights on FOX at 11 PM Eastern time.
