With the fall chill in the air, everyone is wondering when to turn the clocks back.

Daylight Savings Time is the weekend of November 5, 2011. On Saturday night, November 5, at two in the morning you need to be sure you set your clocks backwards one hour.

This will give you an extra hour to sleep, but if you go to church on Sunday morning, be sure you are there on time.

Turning the clocks back one hour will mean daylight comes earlier in the morning, but the evenings will get dark sooner.

The end of the growing season is signified with Daylight Savings Time.

This weekend will bring an end to Daylight Savings Time which means in the fall that people must set their clocks back one hour before going to bed. At 2AM on Sunday, November 7, clocks are to be turned back all across the United States except in Hawaii and Arizona which do not observe this.

What this means that people will gain an hour of sleep tommorrow. In the spring time, daylight savings requires that clocks be turned foward an hour.

The easiest way to remember how the Daylight Savings works is that in the spring, the clocks spring foward. In the fall, the clocks fall backwards. Easy to remember!

Time will “fall back” one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, due to the annual fall Daylight Saving Time observance. The time change was introduced during World War I to help save energy for war production, in addition to taking full advantage of longer hours of daylight from April to October.

The theory behind the keeping of Daylight Saving Time in a majority of states is that it allows people to use less energy in homes due to more daylight. The time change was required during World War II, and the length of Daylight Saving Time was made standard in 1966.

The Energy Policy Act passed in 2005 made Daylight Saving Time four weeks longer beginning in 2007 in hopes of saving 10,000 barrels of oil each day through reduced power usage.

Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa do not observe Daylight Saving Time.

Only a few days remain until the time change happens this fall. On November 7, 2010 at 2:00 AM, all of the US and Canada will be turning their clocks back one hour. So when the clock turns 2:00 AM it will be officially 1:00 AM November 7, 2010.

This procedure is known as Daylight Savings Time. Daylight Savings begin in the 20th century.

The reasoning in behind this change is because we gained an extra hour of light.

This was said to have boosted production in the workplace and also boosted morale.

Daylight Savings time was used on and off through out the years. Congress then decided to standardize it in 1966. Then in 2005 four more weeks were added to extend it.

It looks like daylight savings time in the United States is coming to an end for 2010. Many people will not necessarily miss it since they have certainly grown accustomed to the changes over the course of their lives.

And, as the saying goes, change is good. In all seriousness, the impact of ending daylight savings time is beneficial for those that gain from the change in sunrise and sunset that derives from the alteration. Basically, they enjoy the fact that the day becomes a longer one by starting a little earlier.

Daylight savings time ends in the United States at 2 o’clock in the morning on November 7th.

Those that need to stay on top of the current time will be required to turn their clock back from 2am to 1am or, simply, to turn their clock back one hour when they wake up in the morning or the night before.

In the summer, we all benefit from having that extra hour of early evening daylight. In the winter, we do not need it so much since we are indoors.

Of course, there are a few expanded energy costs as a result since one will be looking towards turning lights on earlier in the evening in the winter due to the lack of sunlight but that is the common tradeoff.

It is that time of year again to set the clocks back as daylight savings in 2009 is over. Now, expect things to get darker one hour earlier in the evenings. There are many reasons for having daylight savings time. It allows for extra time to spend playing outdoor activities when the weather is the warmest and the days are the longest. It has been shown to save energy costs as well, since the lights do not have to be turned on until later in the evening.

Daylight saving time (DST) is normally not used during the winter, and sometimes people will leave for work or school in the dark and then come home in the dark too. Normally, this is not as big of an issue since it is too cold for most outdoor activities that need to be played with the sunlight. However, this can cause a mild depression in some people, so consult your physician if you feel concerned.

Do not forget to enjoy the one extra hour of sleep you get by turning back the clocks this fall.
