Facebook Considered One Of The Most Hated Companies

Many large companies are hated, it could be for any number of reasons. Poor customer service is just one of the reasons that a company may rank low, while it is only one reason, it is a big one.

Now on to discussing the most hated companies, Facebook is surprisingly on the list. Though maybe it should not be a surprise, they do have very low scores on customer satisfaction.

However, even with such poor scores, they still have a very high number of users. American Airlines and AT&T are also on the list of hated companies.

Again it seems that these companies do not customer satisfaction into account. Perhaps being on this list will be a wake up call to companies and force some changes to bring about better customer care.

HERE ARE THE ’10 MOST HATED COMPANIES IN AMERICA’

The website 24/7 Wall Street listed these 10 companies in no particular order. Also included are a summary of the reasons given:

Facebook: For privacy and customer service concerns

American Airlines: A recent bankruptcy and the lowest customer satisfaction in the airline industry

AT&T: The worst-rated customer service, the lowest customer satisfaction and a failed bid to take over T-Mobile

Nokia: Poor stock performance and a slipping share of the mobile handset market

Goldman Sachs: High profits during hard economic times and a host of government accusations made Goldman the object of anger for the Occupy Wall Street crowd

Best Buy: Canceled online orders just before Christmas and low customer satisfaction

Bank of America: A widely-publicized attempt to charge a $5 debit card fee, poor customer service ratings and legal trouble from the federal government and other financial service companies

Johnson & Johnson: The drug maker has reportedly had contamination and quality control problems in several of its medications, including Tylenol

Sears: Declining sales, poor online shopping customer satisfaction and a newly announced plan to close 120 stores

Netflix: A surprise 60 percent price hike and difficulty re-branding products has led this once-loved company to shed 810,000 subscribers

While the word “hate” is a strong description of the feelings that shareholders, customers, employees and the public have toward big corporations, there are a few large corporations that are hated more than the rest.

24/7 Wall St. conducted quite a lengthy review of top corporations to determine which ones are the most hated by Americans. After weighing in consumer satisfaction, product pricing, customer care and services offered, the top three companies were revealed.

Although 24/7 Wall St. refused to reveal the particular order in which the companies were ranked on America’s hate list, it comes as no surprise that Facebook, American Airlines and AT&T were on the list.

Out of all the corporations researched, Facebook did score the lowest in customer satisfaction, but with over 800 million users, they’re bound upset a few million. You can’t please the whole world, all of the time.

Facebook has finally released its long awaited Timeline layout. The layout made its official live debut in New Zealand this week and will find its way to Facebook users across the globe over the course of the next two weeks.

The Timeline layout will chronicle the profile user’s life from birth through the present. While some users are welcoming the change due to conformity, others are threatening to leave the network when the profile changes unroll. Facebook users were made aware of some upcoming changes months ago, but when Facebook switches to the new Timeline, users will not be warned before the change takes place. Timeline will become the default and website users will not have the option to revert to the website’s previous layout.

People are asking whether the Timeline layout is to provide members and website viewers a more convenient way of remembering status posts that they have made or some new marketing ploy.

Time will tell.

Co-founder of Social Network Dies

Co founder of Diaspora has died at the age of 22.

Ilya Zhitomirskiy started Diaspora as an alternative to the social networking site Facebook.

Diaspora put more emphasis on privacy, an option that was thought to be lacking on Facebook. The site was created about a year ago by Zhitomirskiy and three other New York University students.

The cause of death has not yet been determined or released.

Speculations hint to the fact that it was possibly a suicide, but that has not been confirmed. According to the San Fransisco’s Corner’s office, it will be weeks before the cause of death is known.

Recent Facebook Rumor Is A Hoax

According to reports, there is not any truth to the rumor that Facebook will start charging a fee to use the site.

Over the past several days messages saying a new servrice fee would soon be implemented.

“FACEBOOK JUST RELEASED THEIR PRICE GRID FOR MEMBERSHIP. $9.99 PER MONTH FOR GOLD MEMBER SERVICES, $6.99 PER MONTH FOR SILVER MEMBER SERVICES, $3.99 PER MONTH FOR BRONZE MEMBER SERVICES,” read one message.

Of course, the note asked people to “COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT,” or, “YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED IF YOU DO NOT PAY”

Recently, Facebook announced new changes to the network’s features and profile pages which started the rumor of fees being charged.

Facebook quickly dismissed the hoax in a statement saying, “a rumor on the internet caught our attention. We have no plans to charge for Facebook. It’s free and always will be.”

This not the first time Facebook has been targeted by rumors. There are more than 800 active members on Facebook.

Facebook is supported by ads, and they make the majority of their money through user’s participation. It is estimated that they will make over four billion in revenue this year. If they charged a fee to use their site, participation would decline.

Police are investigating the shooting death of 22-year-old Corey White, which is believed to have been related to a Facebook post that was made several months ago.

Former girlfriend, London Eley, made a post on her Facebook account after an argument with White that she would pay anyone “a stack” for taking White’s life. Timothy Bynum responded to Eley’s request by asking about White’s appearance and location, as well as payment in advance. White and Eley were said to have been arguing about custody and visitation of their 2 year old daughter.

The post was made on Facebook in late May, with Eley and Bynum being charged and arrested in early June. They were both charged with conspiracy and weapons related charges. A vehicle that was identified as having been used in White’s shooting was later found in a nearby town. The vehicle had previously been reported as stolen and had been burned when it was discovered the following day.

Eley’s attorney denies his client’s involvement in the case, noting that he was aware of her location at the time of the shooting and that she couldn’t have been involved.

Police are investigating several leads, most of which center around White3′s death being a revenge killing.

White died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Facebook Six Times Meets Yahoo

Yahoo and Facebook are coming together to test the much-fabled “six degrees of separation” theory that people are all connected to each other in the world through a chain of six contacts. If this were true, then it would mean that individuals in the world, as well as advertising brands, are really quite closely related. The idea could sanction belief in a more humanistic type of world promoting a more positive orientation. The two mega-digital partners — Facebook claims a membership of 750 million users — are calling their experiment “Small World Experiment.”

The concept had been tested in 1967 by Stanley Milgram, a Harvard sociologist. Milgram contacted 300 individuals in Omaha, Nebraska and asked them to get a letter to a Boston stockbroker by contacting an associate who they would think had the best chance to relate with the stockbroker. Six-four of Milgram’s letters got through, allowing Milgram to average three degrees of separation. But the letters that did not get through could just as well arguably deny his findings. Findings on such an experiment could go both ways — there may be connections, but they are simply trivial.

Small World Experiment does promise plenty of large world fun.

The new Facebook application for the iPhone and Android has been launched.

It seems they’ve worked out the bugs with their original testing, as they’re ready to start developing the application. However, even despite their best efforts, you can’t use Facebook’s chat on the phones.

Also, a few traditional Facebook buttons are missing. Facebook hopes to have these issues worked out soon.

If you have ever wanted to use Facebook while mobile, that possibility is now a reality.

It’s an interesting concept that looks to be extremely promising, once the bugs are worked out. In the meantime, users will simply have to enjoy the fact they can now get Facebook on their phone.

The application can be downloaded at no cost from both the Apple App store and Android Marketplace.
