Couric is likely to announce she will be hosting or possibly co-hosting a daytime talk show. In the past, Couric said she had no interest in doing daytime talk, but apparently she has changed her tune. The show will air on ABC and is expected to premiere in the fall 2012. Couric will also have a role on the ABC News program.

This will be the third major network the 54-year-old newswoman. Couric earned a remarkable $15 million a year during her stint as an anchor on the CBS Evening News program.

She was the first female to hold the position as head anchor on an evening news program. All three major networks attempted to woo Couric into signing, but ABC ultimately won the negotiations.

According to CBS executives, an official announcement is expected to come later on this week and that Couric’s contract will officially come to an end on June 4th.

CBS went on to say that they plan on naming a replacement for Couric sometime during the first week of May and word is that it will be 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley.

ABC feels Pelley is the obvious choice to replace Couric, who has been a fan favorite on the CBS Evening News.

CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager offered Pelley the position before the news of Couric even reached her fans. Pelley will have to pull some double duty until a replacement for his position on “60 Minutes” can be filled.

Katie Couric fans have not seen the last of her, as her future may include a syndicated talk show, which Couric has received offers from both CBS and NBC.

Couric is currently in Iraq to do a news reports on the political situation and conditions of the area eight years after the fall of Bahgdad. Her current contract with CBS will expire on June 4.

Scott Pelley To Replace Katie Couric

Couric, who began her career with the Today show, took the news anchor position in early 2006, but sources close to Couric says she has never been as comfortable on Evening News as she was with the Today Show. If all goes as expected, Couric’s leave from the show would go in to history as one of the shortest-lived anchor positions in news history.

While it is highly likely that Couric will stay with CBS, nothing has yet been confirmed. Couric is said to be looking at daytime television opportunities with the station. If the show were to happen, it would be early 2012 before we would see her show.

Couric had been a hostess on ‘Today’ before accepting the deal to join up with ‘Evening News’ in 2006. The move surprised many of her daytime fans. CBS entered into a lucrative deal to snag Couric away from NBC, a deal that CBS says will be the “last big deal of its kind.” Couric earns between $13M and $15M annually from her contract with the CBS network.

Couric has not announced whether or not negotiations to renew the contract are pending, but has hinted that she may consider staying. According to some Hollywood talk, Scott Pelley may become her successor.

“The high level of interest in her future is flattering, but she has not made a decision,” her spokesperson said.

Critics have been dogging Couric for years on her inability to draw a strong fan base. Rumors have circulated in the past about CBS executives firing her before her contract was up. Recent reports suggested Couric was being forced to take a pay cut from her lofty 15 million dollar a year salary. The success as a morning news anchor did not follow her to her new home on the evening news program. Couric has struggled in the ratings race the entire time she has been in the anchor position.

The upcoming job vacancy may be given to CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Rumors are circulating that CBS executives had a meeting with Cooper to discuss the possibility. Cooper’s rep has denied the rumors and states the meeting had nothing to do with Couric’s job. Cooper regularly contributes to the 60 Minutes program that airs on CBS and his role on that program is all that was discussed in the meeting. Other rumors suggest Cooper is being courted to accept a position on The Early Show.

When asked about the title in a recent issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Couric calls the label “stupid” stating that the label is based on assumption that the older woman is always the pursuer in such a relationship even though in many cases the exact opposite may be true.

She goes on to say that such assumptions are “silly”.

Katie Couric is 53 years old, and she is dating Brooks Perlin. Despite their seemingly large age gap, Couric says that the couple has no problems based upon their ages even though Perlin has never been married and does not have children.

Couric, on the other hand, has two daughters from her previous marriage to NBC News legal analyst Jay Monahan who passed away due to cancer at the age of 42. In her interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she told the magazine that being a single mother to two girls is difficult, especially when one becomes ill. She went on to say that in such times she feels very alone and that she misses having a partner.

Couric is seen busting a movie, and in one shot is seen holding her legs and, as the kids say, dropping it like it’s hot, in photos unleashed by Gawker.com.

New pictures have been released show Couric doing some sort of drunken dance! The pictures were obtained by Gawker and show the CBC news anchor getting down at an after-party celebrating her debut as anchor of the CBS Evening News back in 2006.

The collection of Facebook photos show Couric doing something similar to the “Stanky Leg” — and an assortment of other dances that should be outlawed for people over 40.

The images were found in an album called “Four Martini Minimum.”
