Richie and her husband, Joel Madden of the rock band Good Charlotte, are already the parents of a three year old and one that is 18 months. Richie has been saying that she is not in a rush to have another child.

Richie, 28, made the announcement on her blog saying the story “revolves around a young, modern and professional woman who must balance her business and family relationships. She must deal with, and navigate the many ideas of what a woman’s role is: modern vs. traditional.”

“Lately, I have been surrounded by many different women of all ages and walks of life. It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a woman’s role should be in this era. I’ve taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special (and funny!). We’re still in the very early stages and I can’t wait to share more with you soon!”

Variety also notes that Richie is “working on her second novel, as well as the debut of her clothing collection and shoe line.” What have you done lately?

Last month Richie was rushed to hospital for.Pneumonia.

“Right now it’s important for me to stay in bed and recover,” Richie, 28, wrote on her blog Tuesday. “Reading all of your messages on Twitter and my website has really brightened my spirits and I am so grateful for the support. I look forward to seeing you all very soon and wish you a happy Thanksgiving.”

Richie has two children, Harlow, 1, and Sparrow, 2 months, with Joel Madden, lead singer of Good Charlotte.

Nicole Richie Gets ABC Comedy Gig

The former reality star and BFF of Paris Hilton will play the lead role and produce a half-hour scripted comedy for ABC.

No premiere date has been set for the show, but Richie assures us that it will be “very special and funny.”

Nicole Richie Gets Her Own Sitcom

Nicole is being treated at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A.

A rep for the star tells Usmagazine.com, “Nicole has checked into Cedars-Sinai where she is being treated for pneumonia. She is doing well.”

Last week the star’s rep shot down rumors on the ‘nets that the mother of two was suffering from the swine flu. Apparently she’s just got a cold.

On Sunday, she Tweeted about battling her pesky illness, writing “ok cold, it’s been 6 days. Lets part ways graciously & keep it moving.”

In September, Richie, 28, gave birth to son Sparrow, her second child with Joel Madden; daughter Harlow is 22 months old.
