He is in Severance Hospital which is located north of Seoul. The 86 year old Kissinger had been complaining of stomach pains. Reports have stated that it is unclear whether he had a case of the flu or had eaten something that disagreed with him.

A hospital spokesman said “It was nothing really serious and he has almost fully recovered from the discomfort”. Aaron Tarver, United States Embassy spokesman announed that Kissinger was admitted with a stomach flu and is recovering. All indications are that he will be released from the hospital on Sunday, March 14th if no other developments occur.

Mr. Kissinger arrived in Korea on Wednesday and his first meeting was with South Korean President, Lee Myung-Bak on Friday. The main reason for his visit to South Korea was to attend a security forum meeting where he would be speaking.

Mr. Kissinger was scheduled to leave Seoul on Saturday, March 13 and continue to China on the next leg of his trip. No word has been given on his destination after his release.
