Facebook Considered One Of The Most Hated Companies

Many large companies are hated, it could be for any number of reasons. Poor customer service is just one of the reasons that a company may rank low, while it is only one reason, it is a big one.

Now on to discussing the most hated companies, Facebook is surprisingly on the list. Though maybe it should not be a surprise, they do have very low scores on customer satisfaction.

However, even with such poor scores, they still have a very high number of users. American Airlines and AT&T are also on the list of hated companies.

Again it seems that these companies do not customer satisfaction into account. Perhaps being on this list will be a wake up call to companies and force some changes to bring about better customer care.

HERE ARE THE ’10 MOST HATED COMPANIES IN AMERICA’

The website 24/7 Wall Street listed these 10 companies in no particular order. Also included are a summary of the reasons given:

Facebook: For privacy and customer service concerns

American Airlines: A recent bankruptcy and the lowest customer satisfaction in the airline industry

AT&T: The worst-rated customer service, the lowest customer satisfaction and a failed bid to take over T-Mobile

Nokia: Poor stock performance and a slipping share of the mobile handset market

Goldman Sachs: High profits during hard economic times and a host of government accusations made Goldman the object of anger for the Occupy Wall Street crowd

Best Buy: Canceled online orders just before Christmas and low customer satisfaction

Bank of America: A widely-publicized attempt to charge a $5 debit card fee, poor customer service ratings and legal trouble from the federal government and other financial service companies

Johnson & Johnson: The drug maker has reportedly had contamination and quality control problems in several of its medications, including Tylenol

Sears: Declining sales, poor online shopping customer satisfaction and a newly announced plan to close 120 stores

Netflix: A surprise 60 percent price hike and difficulty re-branding products has led this once-loved company to shed 810,000 subscribers

Sears to Close Stores After Holiday Sales Slump

Sears CEO, Lou D’Ambrosio has announced that the company will be closing 100-120 Sears and Kmart brand stores following a 2011 holiday season that failed to meet the chain’s sales goals.

The chain includes 2,200 full time stores from which the closures will come. The company cited poor sales in consumer electronics and apparel, as well as a poor economic climate as reasons for its subpar performance and resulting store closures.

As a result of this annoucement, stock shares fell as much as 26% on Tuesday to $34.11, its lowest point since March 2009 and bringing stock prices for the company down a total of 50% in the last 12 months. Shares of Whirlpool Corp. (WHR), maker of Sears’ Kenmore brand, fell 8.5% to $46.86.

Sears has yet to determine which stores will close, and refrained from mentioning how many, if any, jobs will be cut.

Sears Canada says it doesn’t plan on closing any stores north of the border.

A Sears Canada spokesperson confirmed with CHCH News that Canadian stores will not be affected.

The best deals seen concerned electronics and computers. This translates in HD televisions and laptops. Best Buy offered these items at phenomenal prices.

For example, a Toshiba laptop with sufficient memory was offered for under $200. This was definitely far below cost.

The store covered itself with ads of limited quantity. There were no more than 10 per store. It is obvious a deal this good was just constructed to get customers into the stores.

It was also offered online with none available. Otherwise, there was not a sufficient difference between this year and last year involving price points, aside from the prevalence of free shipping.

In the case of Walmart there was even free shipping on returns.

Retailers Across Canada and the US are getting ready for the holiday season with doorbuster deals and major promotional campaigns in hopes that shoppers will open their wallets and seize the opportunity to save.

Both U.S.-based retailing giant Wal-Mart and Sears Canada have unveiled lower prices, particularly on bigger ticket items like LCD televisions, Blu-Ray players, pots and pans and other cooking products.

The country’s biggest retailers have come up with plans to slash prices on more items to lure penny-pinching shoppers.

Here in Canada discount giant Wal-Mart said Thursday it will cut the prices of more than 18,000 items this month, which it says amounts to 20 per cent more cuts than at the same time last year.

On the list of discounts are a Samsung home theatre DVD and sound system for $296, about $100 off the previous price, and a Rachel Ray stainless steel cookware set for $169.97, about $60 lower.

“We know this has been a tough year for Canadians, so we have made every effort to drop our prices and help Canadians make their dollars go farther this holiday season,” said David Cheesewright, the president and CEO of Canadian operations for the world’s biggest retailer.

Sears Canada has launched a “Boxing Day prices” campaign that reduces price tags on several items for three days this weekend, while some stores will stay open for extended hours. The promotion lengthens a single-day sale that ran at the same time last year.

Sears said a Samsung 40-inch LCD TV will sell for $799.88, while it will offer a Craftsman Electric Snowblower for $299.99, taking $200 off the regular price.

For Americans, the start of the Christmas shopping comes with the incredible deals on black Friday.

Retails like Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Amazon all have incredible black friday doorbuster deals.

Do you plan on taking advantage of the incredible deals this weekend?
