Hearts go out across the globe as we morn the loss of the little “Mermaid Girl”. Her name was Shiloh Pepin.

Just within the past few months, the television was flooded with documentaries on shows like “TLC”, “20/20”, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

The truly charismatic child was born in Kennebunkport, Maine with a disease known as “mermaid syndrome” or serWith no rectum, no genitalia, and her legs fused together, Shiloh was not expected to live much more than a few days.

The heart strong child made it 10 years.

Shiloh had a history of surgeries help with her deficit of vital organs. One of the most serious was a kidney transplant at the age of 2. “She was missing a whole series of organs including her uterus, and her bladder, and her large intestine.”, spoke a stunned Dr. Matthew Hand at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Maine. He as well as other specialists would see Shiloh through approximately 150 surgeries including dialysis over her lifespan.

Her mother Leslie stated in previous interviews, “We’ve always understood that she’s supposed to be here. Somebody forgot to tell her that she’s supposed to die.”

The courageous Shiloh finally succumbed to pneumonia on Friday after suffering in the Maine Medical Center for almost a week.
