The lack of emotion, stiff body movements and bizarre posturing had SNL fans snickering and mocking the performance as they fed scorching Tweets to the Twitter universe.

Many felt as though Del Rey believed all she needed to do was to ‘dress up’ and people would accept any of her guttural sounds as real vocals.

The late night show’s executive producer praises Wiig comparing her to SNL great, Dana Carvey. Lorne Michaels commented that the two “arrived fully formed, where you saw what they did in their audition and you put it on the air.”

Michaels continued saying “She has that thing that Phil Hartman and Dan Akroyd had, which is absolute precision, but also this lightness that isn’t what they had.”

The 37-year-old Wiig was nominated for a primetime Emmy for her SNL work in both 2009 and 2010 and has a leading role in the new movie “Bridesmaids.”

Mirren is features in the recent comedy ARTHUR which is in theaters now. She is also starring along with Billy Crystal in the forthcoming highly anticipated sequel WHEN HARRY MET SALLY 2.

Mirren’s selection as an SNL host caught many by surprise since she is considered a serious actress. Her transition on the comedy program went well and she was frequently quite funny in many skits.

The eighteen year old Miley Cyrus performed at the show as a guest host and played in several sketches.

In one of these sketches she played as Justin Bieber, who is completely in love with himself. “I watched Justin in talk shows, so I knew exactly how to act like him”, Miley told the website Just Jared right after the show. “It’s all about the crotch grabbing.”

In other sketches Cyrus played as Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas and Lindsay Lohan. Miley appeared as Lindsay Lohan on the TV show Duh! Winning! and told the host of the show that she’s doing great.

Lindsay/Miley said: “My new movie Herbie opened 68 months ago and the Los Angeles Court House just gave me my own parking spot. Winning! Duh!”

She spoofed several celebrities including Lindsey Lohan, Fergie and Justin Beiber. In addition to the other celebrites, she also poked fun at herself with the opening song, “I’m sorry I’m not perfect”.

This song referred to all of her tabloid drama played out in the media. The performance that is getting all the attention however, is her impression of Justin Bieber.

She has his manurisms down, complete with hair flips, winks and points. In the skit, “The Miley Cyrus Show” inpersonator Vanessa Bayer protrayed Cyrus and interviewed Justin Bieber, played by Cyrus herself.

Bayer during the interview asks, “Did you know I smoked salvia?” Cyrus answers, “Well, there’s no reason that you wouldn’t because it’s totally legal, yo!” Hey, Cyrus has talent!

Miley took part in a number of skits and sang a song called “I’m Not Perfect.” This in response to the negative publicity as of late concerning her sexually stimulating clothing and antics.

The 18 year-old performed well and in a professional manner. It should go a long way in quieting her critics. She was thronged by the usual well-wishers and those desiring her autograph.

She was obliging in granting many an autograph that they will undoubtedly treasure for the rest of their lives.

Always controversial, the singer also used a low-cut blouse with the face of Elmo, the Sesame Street character, during an a skit for the show, to mock the whole controversy created around her participation on the children’s program, which eventually was taken off the air.

Parents of children complained that her costume on the children’s show was just a bit too sexy for the intended audience.

Perry, 25, was at the center of a recent stir over revealing what some considered too much cleavage during a Sesame Street skit with Elmo. In the wake of complaints from parents, a decision was made to pull the Sesame Street appearance all together.

The SNL skit featured Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph trading remarks about Perry’s ample cleavage visible through the altered t-shirt. Perry did not say much during the skit.

The spirited veteran actress made many references and pokes at herself about her age and her long Hollywood career while she was on Saturday Night Live. The musical guest of the night, Jay-Z, first took to the stage and did a medley of some of his number one hits including “99 Problems”, “Me and My Girlfriend”, that all began with his hit “On to the Next One” and ending with “Empire State of Mind”.

Jay-Z was backed by Young Guru on the turntables as well as his touring band Roc Boys. Jay-Z appeared to be in good spirits and smiled often from behind his famous dark sunglasses he is known to wear.

During Jay-Z’s second part of the performance he showed his support to Betty White by dedicating his next song to her and saying “This is dedicated to the most incredible Betty White” as he then went on to perform his new single “Forever Young”.

While it had been rumored there would be a sketch between the two, it never came about. At the end of the show however, the two were shown together as Betty White signed off with Jay-Z’s arm around her shoulders.

Baldwin, who currently stars in the television series ’30 Rock’, will be making his fifteenth appearance on the comedy series. Although most of the finale details are still being withheld from the public, it has been said that the featured musical guest will be the popular rock group Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.
