The spokesman for the country star made the announcement to the magazine Us Weekly on Monday afternoon, just days after his client had been photographed in a restaurant in New York when she wore an engagement ring set with a three carat diamond.

“I’ve never seen Shania so happy. She found the love of her life, “revealed a friend of the star at the magazine, stating that Frederick Thiebaud, a part of the Nestle company, asked the hand of his sweetheart in Switzerland last October.

Frédéric Thiebaud, 40, was the husband of Marie-Anne Thiebaud, the former best friend of Shania Twain. Ms. Thiebaud had in turn been the mistress of Twain’s first husband, record producer Robert Lange.

Shania Twain and Robert Lange have ended their relationship in May 2008 after 14 years of marriage. They are the parents of a 9 year old boy named Eja.

A few months later, the singer had been seen at arm Frédéric Thiebaud during stays in Canada, New York and Florida.

In August 2009, the Canadian star had finally confirmed the rumor that she had related in love with Mr. Thiebaud.

“He is a dear friend and a true gentleman. Fred has been my most constant companion and source of support for me and Eja. Having also experienced the pain associated with the breakdown of his family in the same circumstances as me, he understood better than anybody [...]. We have become stronger and closer through these events, “she wrote on her website.

Last September, the “I Feel Like a Woman!” singer announced the publication of her autobiography, due out in spring. She then explained to the magazine “People” the reasons which led her to write her memoirs.

“There were some moments in my life where I realized that tomorrow may never happen. Recently, I felt an urgency to document my life before running out of time to do it. I want to share an honest report and full my life in my own words,” said the singer.

Shania Twain Engaged To Frederic Thiebaud

The film highlighting rehearsal footage taken while the pop star was preparing for his comeback concerts in London this summer was directed by Kenny Ortega and earned $21.3 million this past weekend.

“This Is It’ was scheduled to be in theatres for only two weeks but after earning over $100 million worldwide since Tuesday, its release has been extended through U.S. Thanksgiving at the end of November.

Taking second spot this weekend, falling from first last weekend, was “Paranormal Activity”. The thriller which cost only $15,000 to make added $16.5 million to its one month total of almost $85 million.

“Law Abiding Citizen” starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx moved up from fourth to third this weekend with $7.3 million.

Also moving up a spot, in fourth this weekend was “Couples Retreat”. This Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, and Kristen Bell comedy grossed just over $6 million at the box office.

Finally, rounding out the top five, plummeting from second to fifth was the sixth instalment of the “Saw franchise”. “Saw VI” brought in $5.6 million in its second week.
