A University of Vienna student, working on a project covering a German massacre of 58 Jews during WWII, identified a 90 year-old former SS agent named in documents as linked to the murders. After the information was turned over to officials in the western German city of Duisburg, Adolf Storms was interviewed several times and eventually charged in the case.
Storms has said he doesn’t remember the incident in which he and his accomplices allegedly marched 57 Jewish laborers into a forest near Deutsch SchĂĽtzen, Austria, where they were robbed of valuables and then shot from behind as they knelt on the ground. Storm is also accused of killing his 58th victim on a forced march the following day.
Mr. Storm has lived a relatively quiet life since the end of the war, returning home to Duisburg after a brief period in a POW camp. He worked as a railway station manager and was described by German authorities as a “retiree from Duisburg.” Prosecutors on the case are now in the process of determining whether or not there is enough evidence to bring the case to trial.
