Costco Yanks Coke Off Shelves

In a final act of defiance against soft drink giant, Coca Cola, Costco has pulled all Coke products from their shelves. Costco has been trying to negotiate lower prices with the company to no avail.

Costco gave up, and decided to quit selling Coke products all together. The prices for Coke products at Costco were significantly higher than regular grocery stores. Costco was looking out for their customers when they began this price negotiation.

Some Costco stores are not pulling the products until they are sold out of the current inventory. Costco has released a statement about the situation, “”Costco is committed to carrying name brand merchandise at the best possible prices. At this time, Coca-Cola has not provided Costco with competitive pricing so that we may pass along the value our members deserve.”

Coke executives are not commenting on the situation, and are hoping they can come to some kind of resolution. It is a win-win for both companies if a deal can be worked out. With tough economic times, more and more people are turning to generic soft drinks as it is. If Coke will not budge on their prices, they stand to lose more than just Costco’s business.
