An Italian judge last Friday sentenced the American student Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend to 26 and 25 years in prison for the 2007 murder of Knox’s roommate.
Knox, 22, Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito, 25, were convicted of committing sexual assault and killing of British student Meredith Kercher in the university town of Perugia.
The indictment describes how they have dealt the fatal blow in the night of 1 November 2, 2007 while a third defendant restrained the arms of the victim because of his refusal to engage in sexual games after an evening watered.
The murder weapon, a knife was found in Sollecito’s apartment, an engineering student. It bore traces of Knox’s DNA.
Rudy Guede, an Ivorian of 22 years, had decided to opt for an accelerated procedure and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Despite the obvious disappointment of being convicted of murder Knox told Walter Verini, a Parliamentarian representing the region of Umbria where she is jailed, that her trial was “correct” and that she still has faith in Italian courts.
The trial of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito lasted nearly a year.

Amanda Knox Thinks Murder Trial Was Correct

So Amanda Knox thinks her trial and subsequent conviction was correct. Does this mean that now she finally admits to her obvious guilt? If not then I have a prediction for you. Raffaele Sollicito will not be able to last in jail and will finally break down and admit to the killing. We can only hope that justice will finally be served and the hystericle American Media will accept the fact of Amanda Knox’s undeniable guilt and start to feel sorry for Meridith Kercher.
rhodes—what fantasy land do you live in, if there is a hysterical media it exists in Italy where Amanda was tried and convicted. A horrific murder scene like this one and none of heer DNA was in the room? Are you for real? It was on the knife but the knife was from the kitchen and she lived there. There isn’t a shred of evidence to convict her. A real court would have found her not guilty. While it is a shame about the other girl, destroying another life does not make it right.
I completely agree with Grahame’s comment. It’s time to accept Knox’s guilt and move on. Being an American alone does not make Amanda innocent! If an Italian citizen had committed a crime of this nature in the US, we would expect and demand the same outcome. Murder is not tolerated in civilized society PERIOD.
I am sure knox’s comment on the trial being “correct” points to her omission of guilt. One would never say such a thing if they were convicted of a murder they didn’t commit! Please!
Let’s be realistic!
If you’ve folled this story at all you know the trial was a joke. The guy trying the case is up on charges of falsifying evidence in other cases. Every expert on the subject says she is inocent and the prosecution has no case but they talked it up sso much in the paper they had to save face and convict her. I’m sure she is saying the trial was correct because she just wants to play nice with the Italian courts so her appeal will take less than the usual 3 years it takes to be heard in the Italian courts. Did anyone see the animated video that was presented in court of what the prosecution thought might have happened. They would be laughed out of US courts.
If you don’t want to do the time don’t do the crime. She should’ve gotten life. The victim did.
The presiding judge’s report, which should describe in minute detail exactly how the two career judges and six laymen jurors came to their decision to find Knox and Sollecito guilty, will be published shortly. You can’t know how much I look forward to reading this document VERY carefully.
“If you want to leave footprints in the sands of time, don’t drag your feet. “-A.L.S.
what do you mean Arlingnne? there were no footprints just dna on kit knife that was in house she lived
I think Amanda is just saying she feels she got a fair trial. You will never hear her come out and admit to the murder as, if for no other reason, that would really hurt her chances in the appeal.
Now with that said, I think the Italian jury should have been sequestered to keep the media and other outside influences from affecting their judgement. She needed to be found guilty or innocent based on the evidence.
I will refrain from giving my opinion of her guilt or innocence as I didn’t follow the trial.
At the very least the jury should have been sequestered. As for her guilt, my gut feeling is that she is innocent and got convicted by the Italian Media.
Will await the publication of the h=judges detailed report
What do you mean Arlingnne?
If she really was involved, why didn’t she leave the country before being arrested weeks later? A guilty person would have fled.
Knowing Amanda, she probably stayed in Italy because she wanted to do paintings of her feet.
I don’t think Amanda is a smart cookie she is very immature and says and does the wrong thing! If she was in America, her lawyer would have kept in check. If I was her parents I would have flown out to Italy the same day with the sharpest, lawyer in tow.
If she said that in Italian and used the word “giusto”, that could mean fair or just, as well as correct. Since she will be apealing the case as soon as possible, it would be foolish for her to say anything remotely negative about the Italian justice system.
BTW, I am American and have no problem seeing her made to pay if she committed the crime.
I don’t believe there was sufficient evidence to convict Knox. However, I don’t think it is our right to make demands about the Italian justice system and its inner working. We would be offended if an Italian was convicted of a crime in the US and Italy wanted us to change our ways. Just be glad we live in America!
I feel she was judged based on what the media was saying..If she was tried in America she wouldve been innoccent due to the lack of evidence in DNA
Amanda Knox is hot….
she was saying that she thought the trial was fair, not that the verdict was the correct one. in italian corretto means fair or properly conducted.
What this means is that she believes their rules were followed, which she probably is saying as she still has the very real chance at reversal on appeal. Even if she loses this, she’s in their system and it never is a bad idea to play the boss’s game, a rule she learned too late. She was convicted for not pretending to be the virginal girl that all Italian women know they’re supposed to pretend to be.
What does she mean correct? Correct that she got caught and will now get what she deserves? Well, I’m sure in 20 yrs when shes up for some kind of furlough program the board will hear this, wait she says shes guilty? I love watching these ‘innocent’ people try to get out of a murder charge, this woman, drunk or not, murdered a person intentionally. Theyre jsut lucky theres no Death Row in Europe. Have fun rotting in an Italian prison cell, you might as well call ur parents and tell them to stop wasting their money, you my friend are what we in America like to call F***ked! CHEERS!
Not all (most) of us live sooO low on the bottom and be sooO harsh toward anyone who’s life has been destoyed and then call them “F’d”… not the America I live in!
And you sir, should learn some lessons in politesse from someone who has exhibited nothing but innate gentility throughout a very turbulent two year period. Sir, I am referring to one Amanda Knox!
My last comment was directed at Jim C, not LL.
Read the evidence in the foreign press – e.g., “Online Times” of London. You’ll see that the evidence is overwhelming in convicting her of this horrific crime. Why is the American press not reporting the details of the evidence brought forth in the trial. Maybe its because they think we are stupid, or that we can’t read. Or, are they giving us just what they want to give us. And, why is that? You tell me!
She said her trial was correct, because the outcome was what it should have been GUILTY, and she knows it. I believe that after a few years in prison that idiot will slip up for something, or someone and finally admit her part in the murder, she’s arrogant, and seems to be out of touch with reality which seems to be her own version. SHE MAKES ME SICK THAT SHES AN AMERICAN. KEEP HER THERE WE HAVE ENOUGH OF HER KIND ALREADY HERE.
This trial would never have seem a courtroom in the United States. There is certainly not enough evidence to convict Amanda or Rafaele of murder, obstruction of justice, maybe, but not murder.
I think Amanda and her boyfriend are guilty. You don’t go around trying to accuse some other random person (the guy who worked in a store) of the crime if you had nothing to do with it. They were high, they went too far, and were soulless, and now they pay. Period. Being “American” has nothing to do with anything.
Why did Amanda and her boyfriend get only 25 and 26 years, yet, Rudy Guede, an Ivorian, got 30 years…Seems to me that racism exist in Italy too!
I am an American who has followed this case since it began. I am sick and tired of Americans committing crimes in other countries and not being punished in the country where the crime was committed. We are so fast to hollow that the American is innocent, when the truth is; they are as guilty as hell! Had it been an Italian charged with such a crime in this country, he/she would burn!
Amanda and her boyfriend are guilty, guilty, and guilty!
Maybe because he had shared his dna with Meridith before he killed her…that there is a def tie to him and the crime scene could really impact sentencing! Hello! I think it may not be racism but evidence…not everyone has to play the race card
Amanda Knox is without a shadow of a doubt guilty. And she would quite likely be found guilty in the United States as well. Often, in the United States, we convict murder 1 charges without DNA evidence and sometimes without any evidence other than the interrogation. If Amanda was innocent she wouldn’t have admitted guilt in interrogation. If she were innocent she wouldn’t have ignored the blood smears in the apt when she found them. Anyone in their right mind would have been alarmed immediately! Common’ stop playing devil’s advocate. I’m American and find Amanda Knox guilty. Her boyfriend is guilty. The third accomplice is guilty. They will serve their sentences unless someone does a dirty diplomatic deal. I’m ashamed that so many Americans are so uncomfortable with the truth and so ever-loving-wishy-washy unless it’s their relative that was killed. Do you know how many drug-related crimes I work with personally where those committing the criminal acts pretend not to be guilty or plea temporary insanity due to the intoxicating affect? The simple fact is that they played with fire. The fire raged out of control. A house burned. And now they won’t admit responsibility. Leniency is the ultimate reason why these types of crimes continue.
I think that no one on the outside knows whether or not she is guilty. Judge not lest ye be judged. I think that she is young, impetuous and rather ignornant about the ways of life, let alone a life in another country. It is very unfortunate that she was tried in the media because she is American and EVERY other country in the world seems to hate Americans at this time, even though they have nothing to do, and on influence over the government that makes the policies. I, myself, feel terribly sad for Meridth and her family, but that does not mean that I will take joy in the ruin of three other people, especially when I cannot feel secure in the guilt of two of them.
I am not here to say if Amanda is guilty or innocent but through all of this even in the trial it seems everyone forgot Merideth, Everyone wants to make it out like Amanda was a victem but the only victem was Merideth and her family. My heart goes out to Merideths family its got to be hell, knowing your child was brutelly murdered and raped and the reason the other guy got 30 yrs was for raping her his DNA was inside of her. Theres only 5 people who knows the truth and 2 cannt speak except for DNA and evidence. And the other 3 lies so you dont know what is the truth there. And the reason Amanda didnt run is because she if she is guilty then she never figured she would be caught being from America. And if she was then the president or someone from the white house would step in make a deal to bring her back here to america. I also feel sorry for Amanda’s parents for the finacial strain they are under. But it could be yrs before her appeal is heard by my understandings. And if she is guilty then I hope and pray that she never gets paroled til her time is up.
I respect that all the armchair lawyers, CSI technicians and reporters have an opinion of their own, some were even amusing.
Coming from the corrections side of the justice system I’ve learned it’s a pretty presumptuous behavior to judge people just because a court of law says they’re “guilty”.
It’s not as if the governmental powers that rule over our lives have never been wrong, or lied, or falsey accused and imprisoned innocent people.
To assume or judge anyone by the behavior they show during such a stressful tragedy shows that you would judge anyone negatively.
Regardless if her chonological age signifies adulthood, she can still be immature when it comes to grownup legal things.
Guilty or innocent I’m thankful that she has family she can count on, if she had to rely on the kindness of others she’d be in more serious trouble then she is right now!
I think Amanda, her borfriend and the other guy should have gotten life for the life they took. It must have felt good when they were doing it, so why cry now. Pay the price. Infact criminals like this should be hanged in public so that crimes like this is not repeated. My deep symphathy with Meredith’s family. they lost their daughter and the killers family and friends are busy defending them. Shame on the people who support these criminals.
I strongly agree with Jim. c….. you are f..ked Amanda.
“Shame on the people who support the criminals and you’re f…ked” are just more stunning examples of well thought out opinions and judgement on a subject no one but the parties involved really know the truth about.
Opinions are like As..ol.s just because you have one doesn’t mean you should take it out and share with the world.
I wish people would stop trying to exonerate this woman. She’s a clever gal and a master manipulator. Her contrived “innocent” appearance allows her to suck people in. Read about psychopaths. She and her b.f. are classic examples.
