The queen has been photographed taking the train.
Queen Elizabeth II was photographed taking the train to Norfolk Thursday for her Christmas break.
According to reports, the 83-year-old monarch was virtually unnoticed amongst the ordinary commuters as she was only accompanied by one guard on her way to Sandringham for her Christmas holiday.
The queen booked all 12 seats in a first class compartment at $70 each, and the Queen went unnoticed on the 100-mile trip to King’s Lynn, Norfolk.
Train operator First Capital Connect said: “The Queen is setting a good example travelling by train.
“We hope she uses our services again.”

The Queen Goes Green, Takes The Train

She booked all 12 seats? LOL! I guess she didn’t want to mingle with the great unwashed masses, even if the seats were first class:)
Of Course, not only 12 seats, but the WHOLE compartment. God only knows who will be sitting next to you.!!
Do you think Obama would even buy 12 seats or travel by train? AirForce 1 or nothing for that great spender of taxpayers money. Good going old gal!
To Motherirish,
Of course, Obama would not take the train. We criticize his wife for wearing shorts on a camping trip what would we say if he took the train.
Just another reason to find falt with him.
who is a greater spender of taxpayers money that the Monarch.
Hi Mother Irish,
It’s too bad salasaca and too funny could only think of it one way. I’m with you. It’s a great example she displayed by taking the train. When I was younger, I asked a few adults why the prez has to have such a big airplane or other things such as that. One reason is when they are in flight, they conduct business the same as when they are at the White House. That’s why so many white house staff go with the plane when it flies. I assume that whatever business they have scheduled dictates which staff members go on that particular flight. I also compared our prez to people like the Queen and why she didn’t need the kind of backup the prez needs. Just look at the difference in the size of the US and England and everything we do compared to England due only to the size of our country and we then have the answer. Also, consider the security the prez needs just because he’s in the position that he’s in and you can imagine the space needed to transport that many people. His life is an open book and there are alot of people looking to end his life whereas the Queen has only one on occasion looking to do the same. There you have it.
To Notupset,
Yup, England is alot smaller also and the royal family does a lot of playing along with their work. It must take alot to support that family. I see alot more work going on here when I look at our politicians compared to the royal family. Yes, I know that our politicians have their faults, but there still is no comparison anyway. At any rate, I do like the Queen.
I whole heartedly applaud the queen for riding on the train. I doubt somehow that she personnaly booked the train tickets, that would have normally been done through the security detail. But, good going for making the effort. And, please, let’s stop making comparison’s between one person and another, it has nothing to do with what happened. Of course the president couldn’t ride the train, we simply have too many nut cases in this country, who would try something stupid.
Will there ever be anything done by anyone in the public eye that will not draw the “gripe and grumble about any and everything” crowd. Think not. Congrat’s to the Queen, you go girl!!! Smart move on the Queen’s part, we don’t need another senseless attack on someone as well known and loved as the Queen. Better safe than sorry.
That is so ridiculous. Mass transit is exactly that, moving the masses. It takes fair amount of energy to move A LOT of people. If you use that same amount of energy to move two people it is a compete waste. All she did was use the Biggest gas guzzling vehicle she could find to take her and 1 body guard on holiday. I am sure it would have taken a fraction of the gas to just take her Rolls. However I guess it is the idea that counts even if it lacks in execution.
Da…you are right. It could be that she needs that many seats for her staff. I did not think of that. Oh, well, don’t we love to complaint about the rich?
So the queen took the train and reserved 12 seats!Who are we to judge her.Our politicians run around in rolls royces or escalades while we foot the bill for the mileage and gas that they use. They vote themselves big pay raises but forget about the people that pay their wages. If Obama wants to take the bus then let him why should we care.So she paid 70 bucks a seat and only used 2,it is a security measure that England must protect her just like 500 secret service men protect Obama and his family..Maybe he should take some incentive from the queen and start hoofing it to the house of representatives.. Take 1 secret service man along to get his exercise too.. Get serious people she took the train to go on holiday.Does anyone want her job or Obama’s? Yes, but we can’t get it so let it be
YOU GO GIRL – BEING SENSIBLE WITH HER MONEY!!!!
The whole point is she’s the Queen and you are not
