Massachusetts U.S. Senator Scott Brown Pumped For Washington

GOP’s Scott Brown & office

Massachusetts U.S. Senator elect Scott Brown is excited to get to Washington D.C. and to work within the GOP caucus in order to create positive change for the people of Massachusetts.

The former State Senator happened to pull what most political analysts considered to be an upset over Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley in order to win the seat once held by the late “liberal lion of the U.S. Senate” Ted Kennedy.

Brown was sworn into office on Thursday and people are wondering whether his pro-choice views on abortion right for example will sit well with some members of the GOP caucus. Scott Brown did ride to the United States Senate on a wave of conservative support so some of those people might be quite upset with the concept that they helped elect a U.S. Senator who will possibly help lift the ban on gays in the military for example.

The GOP caucus is still certainly hopeful that Brown will do everything he can to help block President Obama’s attempts to pass health care reform. The truth is that Brown will have to walk a thin line in order to get everything done that he possibly can in promoting a pro-growth agenda while still pleasing his constituents in Massachusetts.

Back off the anti-Democratic rhetoric and start looking hard for a centrist position on most issues. Not all over-$250,000/year earners are small business owners, for example. I am interested in seeing if you will follow through on such campaign promises as clean-energy jobs and some sensible (=non-Pelosi) health care reform. I see myself as a political centrist, and you were elected by the people to govern from the center, not swing far to the right. (Lincoln MA voter, writing on his 74th birthday)
