BOSTON- Authorities are investigating what is said to be a “suspicious package” sent to Sen. John Kerry’s Boston office.
The package was delivered Thursday morning according to a spokeswoman for Sen. Kerry, Brigid O’Rourke. She has also said that the office was not evacuated, and that the Senator was not in at the time that the package arrived. She also states that she did not see the package in question herself, but that the staff of Sen. Kerry’s office became concerned, and contacted local Fire Department and law officials, who responded to the threat. O’Rourke also states that The Department Of Homeland Security is also investigating.
The package is yet unopened, but a official from the fire departments special ops unit said that no evidence of explosive devices was found, he also said that no evidence chemical or biological weapons were found. The package is currently being shipped to a state lab for further investigation. Though it was quickly deemed non-threatening.
The package was reported to be a box with liquid inside of it. Which is what alarmed the staff, and led to them contacting authorities. Although the box seems to be harmless, it was these actions which can prevent a possible tragedy.
