Lauren Ashley, the contestant representing the city of Beverly Hills in the Miss California Pageant was rejected by the city on Thursday for saying that God wanted gay people dead.
Ms. Ashley, a Pasadena resident listed herself as representing Bevely Hills, even though the city of Beverly Hills has no knowledge of this title. In a rambling statement, Ashley said that God was clear that having sex with people of the same gender would result in death.
She then quoted the book of Leviticus in the bible saying, “If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.”
The city of Beverly Hills and pageant organizers were not happy with these remarks. California beauty pageant contestants are no stranger to this kind of spotlight. Last year’s Miss California, Carrie Prejean lost the Miss USA Pageant and her title when she said she disagreed with gay marriage. The Miss USA Pageant said they took her title away because she was not following through with all the duties of the position.
Ashley has appeared on FOX NEWS and stands by all her statements.
