MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann Says No To Texas Tea Party Rally

MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann has now found himself face to face with a national political movement.

The talk show host has been invited to attend a Dallas, Texas Tea Party rally for anti-tax laws. The Tea Party group have become frustrated with comments that Olbermann has made on his show ‘Countdown with Keith Olbermann’.

The controversy started when Olbermann was accused of making comments about the Tea Party movement in which it was alledged that he stated ‘….how many black faces do you see attending the Tea Party events…none!’. The Dallas Tea Party group responded by posting a 90 second video on YouTube in which they say ‘alot more than there is at MSNBC’ The video also invites Olbermann to a Dallas Tea Party rally and says that he should be ashamed of himself if he does not attend.

Olbermann politely declined the invitation and released a statement through Politico.com where he says that due to the illness of his father that he has not been able to leave New York. He defended MSNBC and the Tea Party’s accusation of non diversity by stating that MSNBC has had a wide range of races as guests on their shows and are frequent contributors to the programming.

I think Kieth hits the nail on the head in his broadcasts. He is spot on! I think he is right to pass up the invitation to attend the tea party rally. Besides the serious illness of his father, his attendance would give them legitimacy. The tea party is nothing more than an arm of the right wing party of the republican party, otherwise known as the party of “Archie Bunker.” The department of Justice released some interesting facts last year. There are over 900 white hate groups in America, the tea party is just another one. Where were all these folks when George Bush squandered the seven trillion dollar surplus left behind by President Clinton and where were they when the republican’s borrow and spend policies left us an eleven trillion dollar deficit. Don’t take my word for it, google “National debt by American Presidents.” There are several articles and you can see it started with Ronald Reagan who tripled the national debt. Bush Sr. came along and doubled that debt. Then Jr came along and spent us into near bankrupty with his eleven million dollar deficit and a recession like no other. It is unrealistic to think that President Obama can get us out of a financial hole in one year that took President Bush and the party of “Archie Bunker,” eight years to dig!

I agree. I thought that this country had grown past most of our racist past, but obviously I was wrong. And all the talk of secession makes me wonder if we’ve regressed back to pre-civil war mentality. It’s kind of odd that most of the white racists also call themselves Christian conservatives. To me they are just hypocritical racial bigots.

And how many Hispanics and blacks are on MSNBC? Oh wait, you’re an ignorant brown supremacist who support hate groups like MECHA, La Raza, and LULAC.

Any group that would support a young earth creationist like Sarah Palin is a joke. Furthermore, I really doubt the tea party movement is even rfecognized formally as a political party so what would be the point of showing up.

Lastly, while these people might be angry about how things have happened recently (which I myself am not terribly haappy about either), the actions of congress is hardly the same as what caused the original tea party and to use the name is insulting to our nations history. The divisive political crap in the US needs to stop; CSPAN is like watching a kindergarten class recently with all the vitriol being spewed.

I respect the blogger for stating Olbermann’s reason for declining. I believe he might enjoy meeting the Dallas folks, once he knows his dad is out of danger.

Wait a minute…I am a member of the National Tea Party, and I am NOT a racist. I think that several of my friends, BLACK Americans, would take offense at you calling them racists and hate mongers. If you ever attend a Tea Party Rally, you could easily see what we are all about. We do not support the GOP, the Democrats, or the Socialist Party of America. We support CONSERVATIVES who hold themselves to CONSTITUTIONAL PRINCIPLES. It is as simple as that. We do not promote the disparagement of people in the opposition, just the principles, or the lack there of, that they try to promote. We are NOT a political party, but the MILLIONS of us who are in this movement are trying to bring this country back to the basics of constitutional law that made this great country the beacon of freedom to the world, and the greatest nation that has graced the surface of the earth. We do not want to see our country fall into the dispair that we see in the other countries who are ruled by socialists and tyrants, but we want to preserve our liberty and freedom for our children, and YOURS. We do not want to pay our way by enslaving our children, and our grandchildren, with a debt that will never be repaid, thus making them slaves to the Government.

Olberman is missing a great opportunity to express his views by refusing to speak with people who disagree with him. He will never know what he is capable of until he sees what We The People are capable of. Meanwhile, we can all say a prayer for Mr Olberman’s father, obviously a man he truly respects.
And by the way, we DO point out Bush’s faults too. You just might have seen that if you ever attended a tea party rally. You are welcome and invited to attend. You will be welcomed with open arms. But if you come to try to spread socialist views, you will be castigated.

    Let Freedom Reign.

I watch your program every night. It helps keep my blood pressure up. But would it be possible to stop quoting Rush Limbaugh and reporting on his activities? Isn’t the controversey exactly what he wants? What would happen if if were ignored entirely – like he doesn’t exist?

    t even exist?
