Sarah Palin: God wrote on his hands, too
Call it a spirited defense. At an Ohio Right to Life fundraiser Friday, Sarah Palin quoted Isaiah 49:16 to justify her habit of writing crib notes on the palms of her hands.
“In that passage he says, I wrote your name on the palm of my hand to remember you,” the former Alaska governor told a cheering crowd of nearly 3,000. “And I’m like OK, I’m in good company. Hey, if it was good enough for God… it’s good enough for me
The King James Bible renders the verse, “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.”
Palin became the subject of ribbing from the press – not all of it good-natured – when she delivered a speech at last month’s Tea Party Convention, extemporizing from the handy notes she’d scribbled on her palm. Even White House press secretary Robert Gibbs got in on the fun.
But writing on her hand is a useful trick she learned from her teacher-father, Palin told Sean Hannity on a Fox News Network appearance last month. “Writing on my hand, well, that’s a poor man’s version of a teleprompter. I write on my hand ‘energy,’ ‘tax cuts,’ ‘lifting American spirits.’ Those are the things that candidates need to embrace in order to get elected and get this country back on the right track.”
