The Coffee Party is set to be the next new rage in the political scene. Unlike the Tea Party, the Coffee Party is not about eliminating government, but rather, about wresting control of the government from corporations and special interest groups. They are about government following the will of the people and doing the bidding of the voters. They about finding solutions to the problems of the U.S. through discussion and decry obstructionism and political tactics.
As it gathers momentum, the Coffee Party is set to explode into a new grassroots movement that looks to impose the will of the people on government and without radical tactics. Their basic tenet is that the government is hired and paid for by the people and, therefore, should follow the will of people. They have the same concerns as the majority: the economy, affordable health care and education, and to cut government waste. They welcome diversity – ethnic, religious, and political.
Saturday, March 13th, 2010, has been established by the group as National Coffee Party Day on which they encourage small groups of members to meet at local coffee shops and discuss the issues that concern them most. A second date has been set for March 27th which they hope will draw even more people.
