Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina, though not admitting guilt, has agreed to pay $74,000 for campaign spending and travel violations of state ethic laws. This is all related to his fling with an Argentine woman, which caused his marriage to end up in divorce. The divorce was finalized Thursday between the Governor and his wife Jenny. She had been separated since the news broke about the Governor’s Argentine “soul mate.”
Last summer the Governor went missing and the whole crazy affair began to break in the news. The Governor was sneaking off to see an Argentine woman he had met by corresponding online. Some embarrassing information leaked about his “soul mate” affair, as he referred to her in emails. It was funny how the Governor disappeared and then made up an odd story about being in the woods.
The Governor was known for doing odd things even before the incident. He used to dig holes on his property to relieve tension. A child fell into one of these holes and the Governor had to make restitution to the child’s family.
