Teenage Sisters Go Missing On Hike

Two teenagers in the Bon Echo Provincial Park area of Ontario remain missing after a camping trip with their mother.

Emma and Jenna Kip left their campsite in Bon Echo to go for a walk on Thursday morning. Their family has not seen them since. Jenna Kip is 16 years old and Emma Kip is 13 years old. Family members describe the sisters as being very close. They were only going for a short hike when they left. The two girls were dressed for hiking, and no foul play is suspected at this point.

The grandmother of the sisters, Cheryl Kip, is waiting for answers but remains hopeful. The two girls both loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing sports. They had visited many provincial parks in the past. Fortunately, the two girls were wearing clothing that complied with current weather demands. The girls were also somewhat skilled at hiking and exploring. Police and family members are optimistic.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ontario Provincial Police are still searching for the missing girls. The massive air and ground search resumed on Friday along the park’s trails, but canine units and helicopters have so far found no trace of the teenagers.

UDPATE

The teens were located around 6:00 p.m. by the Ontario Provincial Police with the help of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre. They were in good condition, police said in a release, and were flown out of the park by helicopter to be checked out by paramedics.

More than 25 members from the OPP’s emergency response team were involved in the search for the girls, including canine handlers, two helicopters, and marine and ATV teams, as well as park staff.
