5-Year Old Indian Rape Victim Battles for Life
The 5-year old girl who was reported as the latest victim of rape in the Indian town of Ghansaur has been hospitalized in poor condition and medical officials say her condition has worsened.
A 35-year old male suspect allegedly raped the girl and then abandoned her at a local farm. When she was located by her parents the following day, she was unconscious and rushed to a local hospital in Jalbalpur for emergency medical treatment. A few days later, the youngster was transported again by airlift to a private hospital for additional care.
Police officials have promised the unidentified girl’s parents that her rapist would be brought to justice and have charged 35-year old Firoz Khan with the crime.
The perpetrator allegedly abducted the girl and kept her a prisoner for two days while he tortured and raped her.
Child rape continues to be a growing problem in India and concerned citizens are starting to organize demonstrations to insist that the government find a fast solution to the problem.
The rape of the 5-year old girl took place just a few short months after a young woman was gang raped by passengers of a city bus. That woman died from her injuries.
