Apple To Replace Faulty Button On iPhone 5’s

Many iPhone users received great news from the Apple Company on Friday.

The company announced that it has created a program that will replace the iPhone 5 on/off power button at no charge for individuals who are currently experiencing problems.

Users that have expired warranties are also able to participate in this program. Some users have found that their on/off or sleep/wake button has had difficulty working. To aide with this malfunction Apple has created a program that is currently available in Canada and the US that will replace these unreliable buttons. The program is scheduled to launch worldwide on May 2nd.

Not all phones qualify for the program; only iPhone 5 phones that were made through March 2013 are eligible to participate in the program. With help of this program iPhone 5 users, that qualify, are able to send in or drop off their phone for repair and have it returned to them in about four to six days.

“Apple has determined that the sleep/wake button mechanism on a small percentage of iPhone 5 models may stop working or work intermittently,” reads the Apple replacement program webpage.

“Apple will replace the sleep/wake button mechanism, free of charge, on iPhone 5 models that exhibit this issue and have a qualifying serial number.”

As a convenience, iPhone 5 users are able to participate in the new program in one or two ways. The first option for the iPhone 5 user is to visit an Apple repair center; this can be an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. The chosen Apple Repair Center cannot be a wireless carrier partner. Individuals that use this option are able to receive a loaner device while their iPhone 5 is being serviced or repaired.

The second option is to mail in one’s Apple iPhone 5 device. In order to participate in this option, one must call Apple and request a postage paid package that will be used to send off the defective iPhone 5 device. The device will be received by the local Apple Repair Center and mailed back to the owner once it is repaired.

During both options the iPhone 5 will be examined by the Repair Center to verify it’s eligibility to participate in the program.

iPhone 5 users are able to visit the Apple website to check eligibility for their device. All that is needed is the serial number of the device, which can be found by using a step by step guide provided on the Apple website.

If one’s on/off button is currently working perfectly then there is no need to take action now. This program is only designed for iPhone 5 users that are experiencing issues with the on/off button and who has a qualifying serial number.
