Actress Bonnie Franklin Succumbs to Pancreatic Cancer
Actress Bonnie Franklin, best known for her portrayal of divorcee and mom, Ann Romano, on the hit CBS sitcom, “One Day at a Time,” has died. Diagnosed in September, 2012, she lost her fight against pancreatic cancer on Friday, March 1, 2013. She was 69.

Franklin, also a highly-regarded dancer and student of Donald O’Connor, performed on stage as well as other episodic television shows in addition to the popular mid-’70s, Norman Lear comedy that co-starred Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips as her teenage daughters. According to The New York Times, she was nominated for an Emmy award and two Golden Globes for her work on “One Day at a Time,” and received a Tony nomination in 1970 for her role in the original Broadway production of “Applause.”

Her husband, television producer Marvin Minoff to whom she was married for 29 years, passed away in 2009. She is survived by her mother, Claire Franklin, and two stepchildren, Jed and Julie Minoff.
