Casey Anthony Judges Speaks on Trial

“Shock”, “surprise, and “disbelief” were just a few of the words that Judge Belvin Perry used to describe his feelings after Casey Anthony’s not guilty verdict was read in his Florida court room in 2011. Perry was the presiding judge over the highly publicized three month long murder trial for the woman who was accused of killing her young daughter, Caylee Anthony in 2008.

In a national interview, Judge Perry spoke for the first time on his thoughts of the trial and the jury’s verdict. He said that he believed that there was more than enough evidence to convict Anthony but that the woman was found not guilty because she had a very personable lawyer and that Anthony herself was manipulative.

The judge said that there were clearly two sides of Casey Anthony and that she was just portraying a characterization of a mother who had lost her child. Perry also said that the case was tailor made for a good defense lawyer who simply had to create a reasonable doubt.

“There were two sides to Casey Anthony,” Judge Perry told NBC’s “Today Show.” “There was the side that was before the jury, where she portrayed the role of a mother who had lost a child — someone who was wrongfully accused. And then you could notice the change and transformation in her when the jury went out.”

The trial verdict was treated with intense national scrutiny. A lot of the American public had similar emotions as Judge Perry. Perry said that Anthony’s ultimate fate has yet to be decided by the “judge of judges”.
