Pantone's color of the year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid, a versatile blend of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, describes the color as one that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination with an expression of confidence and joy that encourages creativity, originality, and innovation.

Radiant Orchid has already inspired the spring collections of fashion designers Emerson by Jackie fraser-Swan, Juicy Couture, and Yoana Baraschi. It is showing up on the red carpet as well. Radiant orchid combines cool and warm undertones, complimenting many hair, eye, and skin tones and providing a healthy glow for both men and women.

In cosmetics, Radiant Orchid, together with shades of lavender, purple, and pink, offers an array of choices for lipstick and blush. Radiant Orchid also creates a particularly seductive combination when worn with red and provides an exuberant finishing touch for nails.

In the home, Radiant Orchid combines beautifully with olive and deep hunter greens. For a bolder statement, pair Radiant Orchid with turquoise, teal, or light yellows, or use it to enliven neutral color pallets of grays, beiges, or taupes.

As Leatrice Eiseman says, this "captivating purple" possesses "beguiling charm.”
