A 41 year old woman from North Charleston, South Carolina spent Christmas in the Charleston County Jail after allegedly stabbing her common law husband with a decorative squirrel on Christmas Eve. The altercation between the couple is thought to have begun after the man returned home empty handed from a shopping trip for beer late on Christmas Eve.
Helen Ann Williams, of Clifton Street, North Charleston is thought to have sent her unnamed common law husband to the grocery store for beer late on Christmas Eve. Unable to find an open store on Christmas Eve night the common law husband returned home empty handed and began to make himself a sandwich. In a fit of rage Williams is reported to have attacked the man with a decorative, ceramic squirrel, the man was allegedly beaten around the head before being stabbed in the chest with the squirrel.
After fleeing to a neighbors house and calling 911 the man was found with cuts and bruises by police. Williams initially claimed her common law husband fell, but suspicions were raised when blood was spotted on her hands and clothing. The man was treated for his injuries and Williams held in jail on $10,000 bond.
