Bitter and Desperate Divorcee Kills Children and Then Herself

West Palm Beach, Florida - the dream life of 48-year-old Jennifer Berman ended in a harsh reality of impending poverty for her and her teenage children ages 16 and 15 last year. Mrs. Berman went through a bitter divorce which led to her posh El Cid home going into foreclosure.

It's unclear whether or not she was receiving any alimony or child support from her ex-husband, a wealthy real estate agent. However, what is clear is that she made good on a threat to her ex-husband to kill the children and herself if he did not ante up money for their care and subsistence.

Family friend Brian McManus told WSVN that Mrs Berman had recently been going through a difficult time in her life.

Mr McManus said: 'Going through a divorce, foreclosure, a lot of that stuff which, it's an upsetting thing when you're going through a divorce and having to sell the beautiful house in this neighborhood, and it's just she just seemed like she had been upset lately.

'You can't fathom, you can't understand what's going on in someone's head for things like that to happen.'

She recently appeared in court to force her husband to provide child support. Sometime after that it is believed that she shot and killed her 16-year-old son Alexander and her 15-year-old daughter Jacqueline before turning the gun on herself.

Mrs. Berman worked as a nurse, but claimed that even 12-hour night shifts with concomitant overtime and differential pay were insufficient to provide for her family. She had testified that she had to hock her deceased father's watch in order to secure food money. Her ex-husband came by the home on Monday morning to check up on the children when he discovered the bodies.

Last month The life of Dmitriy Kanarikov, 35, and his toddler son ended in tragedy after he allegedly threw the child and then himself off the 52nd floor of a West Side skyscraper.

Sources state that Dmitriy’s actions could have been fueled by a heated custody battle between his estranged wife over their 3 year old toddler.
