Toni Braxton made a shocking announcement during an interview on "Good Morning America" last week, sharing the news that she had made a decision to quit the music business after deciding she no longer felt passionate about singing.

Braxton explained that her decision to quit music caused her to feel sad and she wasn't sure if she could attribute her lack of interest to what she called a female mid-life crisis.

She said: “I'm just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects.”

All she knows for sure is that she doesn't have the heart to take on any new musical projects, but wouldn't discount agreeing to do a tour. Her last studio album was released in 2010. Braxton also announced that she wanted to focus her energies on an acting career and said portraying a lesbian on film was among her foremost goals, including explicit sex scenes, which she said is something that her music fans would never expect from her. Her most recent project is a made for TV movie.

She admitted, “I would like to play a lesbian. I don’t know why. And do a whole make-out scene and the whole thing; just something completely different than people would expect from me. Not a lipstick lesbian, either.”

Braxton can currently seen on We TV’s reality series, “Braxton Family Values”, in which she stars alongside her four sisters and mother. However, Toni confessed that she doesn’t like reality programs because they take away one’s right to privacy.

She said, “I hate to have reality star behind my name. That’s just not what I wanted to be when I grew up. For me it’s challenging because the artists that I grew up to be; me, the late great Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, we were taught to be aloof. No one needs to know about your life. But now in the age of reality you have to talk about your life and expose it.”
